Parse gun and ammo titles (model, caliber, cost per round); find GunsNPrices price comparison pages
Overview
Local MCP server that parses gun and ammo product titles into brand, model, caliber and cost per round, and points to GunsNPrices price comparison pages.
- What you can do
- Parse product titles into firearm or ammo details: brand, model, calibers, magazine capacity, barrel length, rounds per box and cost per round
- Identify firearm models from a title or description, including Glock part numbers, across 50 brands
- Normalize caliber names and aliases such as 9mm Luger, 300 BLK or 6.5 CM and return the matching ammo price page
- Compute cost per round from a price and round count, or from a title
- Find GunsNPrices pages that compare prices for a model, brand or caliber, most specific first
- List the supported brands and known calibers
- When to use it
- Useful when an assistant answers gun or ammunition shopping questions: decoding cryptic listing titles, comparing cost per round across box sizes, or pointing the user to the right GunsNPrices comparison page. Also handy for cleaning up spreadsheets of firearm titles into structured fields.
- Requirements
- Runs locally as the npm package gunsnprices-mcp via npx, requiring Node.js 18 or newer; a Docker image and an MCP Bundle for Claude Desktop are also offered. No API key or environment variables are needed.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open GunsNPrices in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
README
GunsNPrices MCP server
[npm] [Tests] [License] [AllMCPs Verified]
An MCP server that helps AI assistants with gun and ammo shopping questions. It reads firearm and ammunition product titles (brand, model, caliber, magazine capacity, barrel length, rounds per box), computes cost per round, and points to the GunsNPrices pages that compare current prices across 40+ US gun and ammo stores.
It runs locally and needs no API key: everything comes from the open-source gunsnprices parser and a snapshot of GunsNPrices page links. It does not fetch live prices; for "where is it cheapest" questions the assistant gets the GunsNPrices pages to send you to.
Tools
All tools are read-only and work offline.
Install
The server is the npm package gunsnprices-mcp and runs with Node.js 18 or newer.

Things to ask
- "What exactly is a
G19 GEN5 9MM 4.02 15RD FS MOS, and where can I compare prices?" - "Which of these 9mm listings is cheapest per round: $18.99 for 50, $289 for 1,000, $13.49 for 20?"
- "Is
300 BLKthe same as.300 AAC Blackout? Where do I compare ammo prices for it?" - "Clean up this spreadsheet of gun titles into brand, model, caliber and barrel length."

Accuracy
The parsing is the gunsnprices library. On 63,755 listings from 40+ stores it recognizes the same model as gunsnprices.com in 99.97% of cases where the site knows the model, and gets the caliber right in 97.8% of firearm and 94.9% of ammo titles where it finds one. Details are in the library's README.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
