Instagram data over MCP: profiles, posts, reels, stories, highlights and search as JSON
Overview
Remote MCP server that gives assistants read-only access to public Instagram profiles, posts, reels, stories, engagement and search results as JSON.
- What you can do
- Look up profiles and page through followers and following
- Read posts, reels, tagged posts, stories, highlights and reposts, or fetch a single post by id
- Read comments and replies, and see who liked a post or comment
- Explore hashtags, locations, trending audio and clips using a track
- Search users, hashtags, audio, places or a universal top search
- Convert shortcodes to media ids, oEmbed a post and check the account balance
- When to use it
- Useful when a task needs current public Instagram data: audience research, competitor and campaign tracking, influencer vetting, trend and hashtag analysis, or enriching a profile or post. Not needed for private accounts or for tasks that do not touch Instagram.
- Requirements
- A remote endpoint at herascrape.com, reachable over streamable HTTP; hosts that support remote MCP authorize in the browser via OAuth. For stdio-only hosts, Node.js 18 or newer to run the npx bridge, plus a herascrape API key in HERASCRAPE_API_KEY (sent as x-api-key). HERASCRAPE_MCP_URL can override the server URL.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open herascrape in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.herascrape%2Fherascrape-mcp/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.Other MCP clients
Add this to your client's mcpServers config.

herascrape-mcp: Instagram MCP server
[npm] [License: MIT] [Install MCP Server]
Instagram data for AI agents, over the Model Context Protocol. Point Claude, Cursor, ChatGPT, VS Code, or any MCP client at herascrape-mcp and it can read public Instagram profiles, content, engagement, and search results directly: no scraping code, no browser, no login.
Every endpoint is one tool, generated from the live API, so the tool list never drifts from what the server serves. It is read-only, cursor-paginated, and flat $0.0004 per successful call (only 2xx is billed; the media resolver, oEmbed and the balance check are free). Powered by the herascrape Instagram API; to call it from code instead, use the Python & TypeScript client.
What agents can do with it
- Profiles & audiences: resolve a username or user id to a full profile; page a user's followers and following; pull the "about" / account details.
- Content: a user's posts, reels, tagged posts, live stories, highlights, and reposts; fetch any individual post or reel by id.
- Engagement: read a post's comments and their replies; see who liked a post or a comment.
- Discovery: hashtag top / recent / reels; a location's top & recent media; trending audio and the clips using a given audio track.
- Search: users, hashtags, audio, places, and a universal "top" search.
- Utilities: convert between a shortcode and a media id, oEmbed a post, and check your live balance.
Agents reach for these when a task needs what's actually on Instagram right now: audience research, competitor and campaign tracking, influencer vetting, trend and hashtag analysis, enriching a profile or a post.
One-click install
The button above opens a client picker and installs herascrape-mcp wherever you run agents. For clients with native one-click install:
[Add to Cursor] [Add to VS Code] [Add to VS Code Insiders] [Add to Visual Studio] [Add to LM Studio] [Add to Goose]
Get an API key (or sign in to authorize in-browser) from your herascrape dashboard.
Manual install
Remote (recommended): connect by URL, authorize in the browser
Hosts that support remote MCP connect to the hosted server and authorize with a click (OAuth); no key to copy.

Claude Code:
claude mcp add herascrape --transport http https://herascrape.com/mcp -
Cursor / Claude Desktop / ChatGPT:
Local (stdio-only hosts): npx, with an API key
For hosts that only run local (stdio) servers (Node ≥ 18). The bridge is a thin
stdio-to-HTTP proxy to the hosted server: it forwards your API key as
x-api-key and relays the live tool list and calls; it defines no tools of its
own. Get a key from your dashboard.

85% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
