Requirements
Runs locally over stdio, typically launched with npx from the npm package soclip-mcp, so Node.js is needed. A Soclip API key is required in the SOCLIP_API_KEY environment variable, or stored earlier via the soclip CLI config file. Network access to the Soclip API is required.
Before you install
The API key is a paid-account credential; keep it out of shared configs. Each media extraction costs 2 credits (about $0.002), so repeated calls spend real money, and the balance tool only reports the remaining amount. The URLs you submit are sent to the third-party Soclip service.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Soclip in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
