Instagram MCP for DM and comment automation, AI Agent and content publishing via Meta's official API

Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted MCP server that connects an Instagram Business or Creator account so an assistant can handle DMs, comments, automations, campaigns and publishing.

What you can do
  • Read and reply to DMs and comments, and send messages or conversion links
  • Build and manage comment-to-DM automations, scenario folders and executions
  • Create and send DM campaigns to contact segments
  • Manage contacts, folders, segments and contact properties (CRM)
  • Publish posts and stories, including comment-to-DM media
  • Configure the Inrō AI agent, profile settings, icebreakers and persistent menu
When to use it
Useful when you run an Instagram Business or Creator account and want an assistant to triage DMs and comments, set up comment-to-DM automations, run DM campaigns, or publish posts and stories from a chat client. Agencies managing several client accounts can use the partner endpoint instead.
Requirements
A remote endpoint at api.inro.social/mcp over Streamable HTTP; nothing to install. An Inrō account with the connected Instagram account, an Inrō Pro plan or 14-day trial, and OAuth 2.1 sign-in (or a private API token sent as a bearer token). Instagram publishing permission is needed to publish.
Before you install
Tools that send messages, publish, trigger scenarios or delete data are flagged destructive and can act on a live audience; contacts who opt out are skipped. The private API token from Inrō settings is a credential and should be kept secret. The partner endpoint uses a bearer token rather than OAuth and can create or remove client accounts. Pro is a paid subscription after the trial, and requests are logged in the Inrō account.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Inrō for Instagram in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.inro-app%2Finstagram-mcp/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

README

Inrō MCP server for Instagram

Connect your Instagram account to ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor or any MCP client, and run DMs, comments, automations and analytics by describing what you want.

Hosted, nothing to install. Built on Meta's official Instagram API (Inrō is a Meta Tech Provider).

Server URLhttps://api.inro.social/mcp
TransportStreamable HTTP, MCP protocol 2025-11-25
AuthOAuth 2.1 (PKCE, dynamic client registration), or a private API token from Inrō settings
RequiresAn Inrō Pro plan or free trial, and an Instagram Business or Creator account
Tools44, each covering a group of related actions

What your assistant can do

  • Read and reply to DMs and comments
  • Build comment-to-DM automations from a sentence ("DM the guide to everyone who comments GUIDE on my last Reel")
  • Create and send DM campaigns to a segment of contacts
  • Manage contacts, folders, segments and contact properties (CRM)
  • Configure the Inrō AI agent that answers DMs
  • Publish posts and stories
  • Ask what's working: post, automation and campaign results

Connect

[!IMPORTANT] You need an Inrō account before connecting. Sign up free, then connect your Instagram account in Inrō and start the 14-day Pro trial.

Claude (claude.ai or Claude Desktop): Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, then paste https://api.inro.social/mcp and sign in to Inrō.

ChatGPT: add a custom connector (MCP) with the URL https://api.inro.social/mcp and sign in to Inrō. Custom connectors may require developer mode, depending on your ChatGPT plan.

Cursor, in ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "inro": { "url": "https://api.inro.social/mcp" }  }}

Claude Code:

bash
claude mcp add --transport http inro https://api.inro.social/mcp

Clients without OAuth: send your private API token as Authorization: Bearer <token>. You can find it in your Inrō organization settings.

Several Instagram accounts in one client: some clients allow one connector per URL. Add any query string to make each URL unique, for example https://api.inro.social/mcp?username=my_second_account. It is ignored by the server.

Tools

Related actions are grouped into one tool, and reading and changing are separate tools (contacts reads, contacts_manage writes). Your client can therefore ask for approval only on the tools that change something, and sending a campaign, triggering a scenario or deleting data is flagged as destructive.

AreaTools

Everything except *_manage tools only reads. Publishing requires Instagram publishing permission on the connected account.

Agencies

Manage several client accounts from one connection with the partner endpoint https://api.inro.social/partner/mcp and a partner token. Every tool then takes an organization argument (an id or an Instagram username), and four extra tools list, create and remove client accounts. The partner endpoint uses a bearer token, not OAuth.

Safety

  • Official Meta API only. No passwords, no unofficial access.
  • Every request is logged in your Inrō account, under Profile, Platform logs.
  • Tools that send messages, publish or delete are flagged as destructive, so MCP clients that support approvals ask you first.
  • Contacts who opt out are skipped by every automation and campaign.

Pricing

Inrō has a free plan. The MCP server needs Inrō Pro (from EUR 12.99 per month, with a 14-day free trial). Free accounts can connect and are shown how to upgrade.

This server asks you to sign in, so SourceWeft could not read its tools without an account and has not indexed them. What a connected account sees can depend on that account and its permissions.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
