Overview

AI-generated overview

DropGone lets an assistant send encrypted, expiring file links from allowed local folders and check link availability without consuming a download.

What you can do
  • Share files from permitted local folders as encrypted, expiring links
  • Check whether a shared link is still available without using up a download
  • Scope file access to folders the user explicitly allows
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to hand off files from your machine through time-limited, encrypted links, or to verify that an existing link is still live before relying on it.
Requirements
Runs as a local process via the npm package dropgone-mcp over stdio, on desktop only. Requires Node.js 22 or later and the DROPGONE_ALLOWED_DIRS environment variable listing absolute allowed folders, separated by : on macOS/Linux or ; on Windows.
Before you install
The server can read files from the folders listed in DROPGONE_ALLOWED_DIRS and send them out as links, so keep that list as narrow as possible. Links are described as encrypted and expiring, but the README and tool list are not available here, so review what is uploaded and where before sharing.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open DropGone in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Tools

0
SourceWeft started this package once in an isolated sandbox, without credentials, to list its tools. That failed: the package did not install.

Score

25% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

  • Tools listed15 pts

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.

Declare a license in the repository or the registry entry.
