MCP server for consuming and managing Groups.io data via the Groups.io REST API

Overview

AI-generated overview

Lets an assistant read and manage Groups.io groups, messages, members, files, and wiki pages through the Groups.io REST API.

What you can do
Wraps the Groups.io REST API as MCP tools. Read tools cover subscriptions, group settings, subgroups, topics and messages, archive and member search, hashtags, message history, permissions, events, files, wiki pages, and databases. Two write tools update your own subscription settings and unsubscribe you from a group.
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to browse or search Groups.io mailing-list archives, look up group members or settings, or adjust your own subscription without opening the web interface.
Requirements
Runs locally as a Node.js process (Node.js 18+) started by your MCP client, for example via the npm package @ke4qqq/groupsio-mcp-server. Requires a Groups.io API key supplied in the GROUPSIO_API_KEY environment variable. Network access to the Groups.io API is needed.
Before you install
The API key in GROUPSIO_API_KEY grants access to your Groups.io account and should be kept out of shared configuration files. The server can change your account state: update_subscription alters your email delivery and message selection, and delete_subscription unsubscribes you from a group. Member and directory tools return other people's names and email addresses.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Groupsio in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Score

50% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
