Model Context Protocol (MCP) server for Cerebras to make coding faster in AI-first IDEs

VerifiedSTDIODesktop onlyDeveloper ToolsAI & ML

Overview

AI-generated overview

Local MCP server that connects AI-first IDEs to Cerebras models to speed up coding tasks, with optional OpenRouter fallback.

What you can do
  • Routes coding requests from the assistant to Cerebras-hosted models for faster code generation and editing.
  • Falls back to OpenRouter when Cerebras rate limits are reached, if an OpenRouter key is configured.
  • Runs as a local stdio process started by the IDE, so it works inside the editor's assistant rather than as a hosted service.
  • No tool list is published, so the exact operations exposed are not documented in the supplied material.
When to use it
Worth adding when you use an AI-first IDE and want coding assistance served by Cerebras for lower latency, and you already have or can obtain a Cerebras API key. Less useful if you do not need a second model provider alongside your existing assistant.
Requirements
Runs locally as an npm package (cerebras-code-mcp) over stdio, so Node.js and a desktop IDE are needed; it is not web-executable. Requires a Cerebras API key in CEREBRAS_API_KEY; OPENROUTER_API_KEY is optional for fallback. Network access to the Cerebras and OpenRouter APIs.
Before you install
Two API keys are involved: CEREBRAS_API_KEY is required and OPENROUTER_API_KEY is optional; both are secrets and should be kept out of shared configuration. Usage is billed by the respective providers, so requests may incur costs. Code and prompts sent to these providers leave your machine.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Cerebras Code Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Score

25% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

  • Tools listed15 pts

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
