Render, preview and check videos written as web pages (HTML to MP4 on NVIDIA GPU or CPU)

VerifiedSTDIODesktop only

Overview

Kodecz's local MCP server; no sign-in required; STDIO.

No AI overview yet: these facts come from the registry entry and the server itself.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Kodecz in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

kodecz-mcp

MCP server for Kodecz, the open-source engine that renders a web page into an MP4 on an NVIDIA GPU or on any CPU. It gives any MCP client the three commands of the Kodecz loop:

ToolWhat it does
renderrenders a video folder to MP4 (cpu, hevc, alpha, from, frames); returns the render's JSON line
previewdraws the given frames as lossless PNGs and returns them as images, so the agent can look
checkruns the automatic checks on every frame (text over a face, one-line captions, safe area, contrast, zoom timing); returns the JSON result and pictures of the problems

The server has no dependencies. It runs the kodecz command already installed on the machine (set KODECZ_BIN to another path), with an argument list and never through a shell, so Kodecz itself must be installed first (quick start).

Use

Claude Code: the Kodecz plugin starts it for you (/plugin install kodecz --marketplace konecz/kodecz).

Any other client (Claude Desktop, Cursor, Codex, VS Code...):

json
{ "mcpServers": { "kodecz": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "kodecz-mcp"] } } }

From a clone, without npm: "command": "node", "args": ["/path/to/kodecz/mcp/kodecz-mcp.mjs"].

Paths in tool calls are absolute or relative to the server's working directory. Tests: node --test mcp/kodecz-mcp.test.mjs.

Apache-2.0. Created by Konecz.

Score

50% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

  • Tools listed15 pts

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
