Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP server that lets an assistant look up current PHP and WordPress documentation pages, trace PHP errors to manual pages, and check upgrade breaks.

What you can do
  • Look up one current English manual page for a PHP symbol or a WordPress function, hook, or class, with URL, version line, signature, description and first example
  • Turn a PHP error message into the manual page for the function or method it names
  • Check which given PHP symbols appear on official php.net migration pages between two minor versions, flagged as incompatible or deprecated
When to use it
Useful when an assistant writes or debugs PHP and WordPress code and should cite current official documentation rather than recalled details, or when planning a PHP minor-version upgrade and wanting to see which symbols the migration pages name.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no local package. Requires an API key sent in the X-API-Key header, obtained from the provider's signup page. The README states new keys include 20 credits and that further credits are bought separately.
Before you install
The API key is a secret sent on every call. The README describes a credit system with paid top-ups, so usage may cost money; it also lists two other servers (company lookup, invoice reading) with per-call credit prices, so check which endpoint and tool you are connecting to. Upgrade results only reflect symbols named on migration pages, not proof that code is safe.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open PHP and WordPress docs in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect X-API-Key credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.ladanyin%2Fphp-docs/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

query_php_docs

Read a PHP or WordPress manual page

Read one current English manual page for a PHP symbol or a WordPress function, hook, or class. Returns the official page URL, the version line, the signature, the description, and the first official example. php.net pages are the live English HTML manual. WordPress pages are the live developer.wordpress.org reference. This is not an archive of older manuals and it does not search Laravel, Symfony, or Markdown docs. The first 5 successful pages each UTC day from one network address are free and need no API key. A not_found or fetch_failed does not use a free page. After the 5, send header X-API-Key. A key call costs 0.04 credit only when a page is returned. Pass the symbol, for example str_contains or wp_insert_post. Set source to php or wordpress, or omit it and a wp_ name uses WordPress. Set version, for example 8.3 or 6.7, to learn whether that release is covered by the page version line. version_applies is null when version is omitted or the page has no version line. User comments are not included. Key: https://firm.bestsmartgoods.com/signup

explain_php_error

Explain a PHP error

Turn one PHP error message into the current English manual page for the function or method it names. Returns the manual URL, version line, signature, description, and first example. Use it when the agent has the error text. A message that names no function returns not_found. The first 5 successful calls each UTC day from one network address are free and need no key. A not_found, bad_range, or fetch_failed is not charged and does not use a free call. After the 5, send X-API-Key. A key call costs 0.04 credit only on success. check_php_upgrade

Check a PHP upgrade

Check which of the given PHP symbols are linked from the official php.net migration pages between two minor versions. Returns each hit with kind incompatible or deprecated, the version, and the page URL. A symbol that is absent was not named on those pages, which is not proof the code is safe. Send from, to, and symbols, or code instead of symbols. The span can cover at most 8 minor versions. An empty breaks list is still a successful, charged check when the pages were read. The first 5 successful calls each UTC day from one network address are free and need no key. A not_found, bad_range, or fetch_failed is not charged and does not use a free call. After the 5, send X-API-Key. A key call costs 0.04 credit only on success. Key: https://firm.bestsmartgoods.com/signup
