Overview

AI-generated overview

A remote MCP server that lets an assistant detect a snippet's language, explain code, generate docstrings, measure complexity and suggest refactors.

What you can do
Detect the programming language of a snippet and get the result with a confidence level. Explain code in natural language, including structural analysis, features and a summary. Generate JSDoc, Python docstrings, Go godoc or Rust doc comments for functions. Analyze cyclomatic and cognitive complexity, nesting depth and maintainability index. Get prioritized refactoring suggestions for code quality. Run all five analyses in a single call.
When to use it
Useful when reviewing unfamiliar or legacy code, documenting functions, judging whether code is too complex to maintain, or planning refactors. Handy as a one-call review pass over a snippet before editing it.
Requirements
A remote endpoint at over streamable HTTP; no package, account, API key, environment variable or header is declared. Network access to that host is required.
Before you install
Code snippets are sent to a third-party hosted service, so avoid pasting proprietary, secret-bearing or regulated code. No authentication is declared, so do not assume requests are private or attributable. Outputs such as explanations and refactor suggestions are advisory and should be reviewed.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Code Explainer in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.lazymac2x%2Fcode-explainer/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows
