Your private media library and records, with receipts: search, recordings, and a verifiable ledger.
Overview
Connects an assistant to a self-hosted Longwire media server to search a private library of recordings, films, music and photos and consult its ledger.
- What you can do
- Search and browse a private media library of recorded TV, radio, films, music and photos
- Look up recordings and other items held on the Longwire server
- Consult the verifiable ledger that accompanies the library
- Work against a Longwire instance addressed by the LONGWIRE_URL setting
- When to use it
- Useful when you already run a Longwire media server at home and want an assistant to find items in that library or check its records, rather than for general web media search.
- Requirements
- A local Longwire server reachable on the network, with its address supplied in the LONGWIRE_URL environment variable (for example a host and port on the local network). The MCP server itself runs as a local desktop process over stdio; no account or API key is declared.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Longwire in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
README
Longwire — downloads
Longwire is a whole-home media server from Future Maven: free over-the-air television recorded from an HDHomeRun tuner, radio through an RTL-SDR dongle, your own films, music and photos on every screen in the house, recordings published to every TV over DLNA, guests on their phones from a QR code. It runs as a service on a Windows PC, a Linux box or a Raspberry Pi and is used from a browser.
This repository holds the releases only. Take the newest one from the Releases page:

The app checks this page once a day and shows a badge when a newer version is here; nothing downloads or installs by itself.

Score
40% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
- Reached in the last 30 days25 pts
Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
- Tools listed15 pts
Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
