Remote MCP server for researching US doctors on NavMDs: search by procedure or natural language, read profiles and reviews, and compare procedure costs.
What you can do
Search doctors by procedure, specialty, state or city, or by open-ended natural-language query with semantic search, and get curated local specialist guides for a procedure in a city. Read a doctor's full profile by slug, including specialty, locations, ratings, pricing, consultation fee, FAQ and verification status, plus published patient reviews. Compare procedure costs across doctors, optionally narrowed to a state or city, with min, median, max, average and sample practice quotes. Browse the covered procedures and the states and cities with doctor counts to ground a search. Search patient discussion threads on the NavMDs community forum and fetch a full thread with its replies. Use the
When to use it
Useful when someone is choosing a US doctor or procedure and wants directory search, doctor profiles, patient reviews, local price ranges or lived-experience discussion in one place. Good for open-ended questions like finding a board-certified surgeon in a city with good reviews and free consultations.
Requirements
A remote endpoint at navmds.com over streamable HTTP; no package, environment variables or headers are declared. No authentication is declared. Network access to the NavMDs site and its community forum is needed.
Before you install
The server reads public directory and forum content; no write, send or delete actions are listed. Doctor profiles, reviews, prices and forum posts are third-party content and may be incomplete or out of date, so verify before relying on them for care or cost decisions. Queries and lookups go to NavMDs' servers.
Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.mattlsmith%2Fnavmds/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.
Find doctors by procedure/specialty, optionally filtered by US state and city. Uses NavMDs' pre-computed search index (fast, ranked by rating + review volume). Use this when you have a concrete procedure (e.g. 'rhinoplasty', 'botox', 'tummy tuck'). For open-ended natural-language queries, use semantic_search_doctors instead.

find_local_specialists
Curated 'best {procedure} doctors in {city}' guide
Return NavMDs' curated city guide for a procedure: the ranked specialists (the city's OWN doctors first, then the nearest within an adaptive radius), the typical local price range, the average rating, the share offering free consultations, and the canonical navmds.com page URL to cite. This is the best tool for 'who are the best <procedure> doctors in <city>' questions — it mirrors NavMDs' editorial city pages. If no curated guide exists for that city+procedure, it says so; fall back to search_doctors with a nearby larger city.
Search NavMDs' 7,400+ doctor directory with a natural-language query, e.g. 'board-certified facelift surgeon in Los Angeles with great reviews and free consults'. Powered by Gemini embeddings + cosine similarity over full doctor profiles. Best tool for open-ended or multi-attribute questions.

search_community
Search NavMDs community discussions
Search patient discussion threads on community.navmds.com — the NavMDs forum where people discuss recovery timelines, what procedures actually cost them, choosing a surgeon, and what to expect. Use this for lived-experience questions ('what is rhinoplasty recovery like', 'how much did people actually pay for a tummy tuck', 'how do I pick a surgeon') where the doctor-directory tools can't help. Returns thread titles, categories, excerpts and canonical URLs; pass an id to get_community_thread for the full discussion. Community posts are patient discussion, not medical advice.
Parameterslimitqueryrequired
get_community_thread
Get a full community discussion
Fetch a complete NavMDs community thread by id (the id returned by search_community, or the trailing number of a community.navmds.com/t/<slug>/<id> URL) — the original question plus every reply, in order. Use after search_community when you need the actual answers rather than an excerpt. Community posts are patient discussion, not medical advice.
