Move off AWS, GCP, Azure: EU-owned alternatives, EU cloud prices, exit fees, Terraform lock-in scan.
Overview
Local MCP server that helps an assistant plan a move off AWS, Google Cloud or Azure to EU-owned clouds, using sourced data on alternatives, prices, exit fees…
- What you can do
- Find EU alternatives: map AWS, Azure and Google Cloud services to UpCloud, Scaleway, Hetzner or OVHcloud products and rate how hard the move is
- Compare prices: monthly EUR list prices for server, PostgreSQL, Kubernetes and storage baskets across the three hyperscalers and four EU clouds
- Estimate exit fees: egress cost for moving a given amount of data out, whether exit programs waive it, and what EU Data Act rules allow
- Scan Terraform: read local .tf files to list services used, their portability, EU replacements and a 0-100 portability score
- When to use it
- Useful when evaluating or planning a migration away from AWS, Google Cloud or Azure, comparing EU cloud costs, budgeting egress and exit fees, or checking how locked in an existing Terraform setup is.
- Requirements
- Runs locally over stdio via npx, so Node.js 20 or later is needed. No cloud credentials, API keys or environment variables are declared. Tools fetch open MoveInfra data repositories over the network, cached for an hour.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open EU Cloud in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
README
eu-cloud-mcp
An MCP server for moving off AWS, Google Cloud and Azure to EU-owned clouds. Ask your AI assistant or coding agent which EU product replaces a service, what the same setup costs on each cloud, what leaving will cost in egress, and how locked-in your Terraform is. Answers come from open, sourced data maintained by MoveInfra, not from the model's memory.
- Read-only. No cloud credentials. The Terraform scan reads files locally and sends nothing anywhere.
- Current data. Tools read the open data repositories below (cached for an hour), so prices and rules follow the monthly updates without a new release.
- Open source, Apache-2.0. Node.js 20 or later.
Install
Claude Code:
Codex (~/.codex/config.toml):
Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code and other clients (mcpServers JSON):
Examples
- "Which EU cloud replaces our DynamoDB tables, and how much work is it?"
- "What does a 4 vCPU / 16 GB server cost on Hetzner, Scaleway and UpCloud compared with AWS?"
- "We have 40 TB in S3. What will it cost to move it out, and can we get the egress waived?"
- "Scan ./infra and tell me what would be hard to move to an EU-owned cloud."
Data
Found a wrong price or a missing service? Open an issue or PR in the data repository; this server picks it up within an hour.
scan_terraform_lock_in is a quick Terraform-only scan. For CloudFormation, SAM, Serverless, SDK imports, file and
line numbers, and a CI check, use cloud-lock-in-scanner.
Development
Planning a move? MoveInfra migrates companies from AWS, Google Cloud and Azure to EU-owned clouds.
Releasing
Bump the version in package.json, index.js and server.json, commit, then git tag vX.Y.Z && git push --tags.
The release workflow publishes to npm (trusted publishing, no token) and to the MCP registry.

Score
50% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
- Reached in the last 30 days25 pts
Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
