Alphavantage Mcp

An MCP server that gives an assistant access to Alpha Vantage market data for stocks, forex, and crypto.

What it does

This server connects an assistant to the Alpha Vantage data service, exposing tools for stock quotes, foreign exchange rates, and cryptocurrency data. It runs locally over stdio, so the assistant can request market data through the tools the server provides. The manifest does not list individual tool names or parameters.

When to use it

Use it when you want an assistant to look up stock, forex, or crypto market data during a conversation, for example to check a quote or compare rates. It is not needed if you only work with data sources you already have locally.

Requirements

Runs as a local process on the user's machine, installed from the npm package @mrfentmen/alphavantage-mcp over stdio, so Node.js and npm are required. A free Alpha Vantage API key is needed according to the registry description, although the manifest declares no environment variables or headers. Network access to the Alpha Vantage service is required.
