Overview

AI-generated overview

Local MCP server that lets an assistant query the Clerk Backend API for user accounts and user details using a Clerk secret key.

What you can do
  • Look up users in a Clerk instance through the Backend API
  • Retrieve details for individual user records
  • Runs as a local stdio process started from the npm package clerk-mcp
When to use it
Useful when you work with Clerk as your authentication provider and want an assistant to inspect user accounts or pull user details during development or support work, instead of switching to the Clerk dashboard.
Requirements
Node.js to run the npm package clerk-mcp as a local stdio process. A Clerk secret key supplied via the CLERK_SECRET_KEY environment variable, sent as a Bearer token. Network access to the Clerk Backend API.
Before you install
The server needs a Clerk secret key, which grants broad backend access to your Clerk instance; keep it scoped to a development or test instance where possible and avoid exposing it in logs or shared configuration. User data retrieved from Clerk is passed to the assistant and its model provider.

Score

25% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

  • Tools listed15 pts

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
