io.github.mrfentmenPublished by GitHub account mrfentmenv1.0.2Updated Nov 5, 2026
Control GIMP image editing via Python-Fu scripting from AI agents.
Overview
Local MCP server that lets an AI assistant drive GIMP through Python-Fu scripting to open, edit, filter, resize and export images.
- What you can do
- Open images in GIMP and read their dimensions, mode, type and layers
- Save the current image or export it to PNG, JPEG, XCF or PSD
- Resize images to specific dimensions
- Apply filters such as blur, sharpen, brightness/contrast and grayscale
- Run batch processing over multiple files with custom Python code
- When to use it
- Useful when you want an assistant to perform repetitive raster image edits on your own machine — resizing, filtering, format conversion or bulk processing — without clicking through GIMP manually.
- Requirements
- Runs as a local process via npx (Node.js) and requires GIMP installed on the same machine, found in PATH or set through the optional GIMP_PATH environment variable. Desktop only; no authentication is declared.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Gimp Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
