Overview

AI-generated overview

Local MCP server that lets an assistant search OpenSearch indices, manage documents and indices, and inspect cluster health and stats.

What you can do
  • Search indices with simple queries or raw OpenSearch query DSL, and list or fetch documents by ID
  • Add and delete documents, and create or delete indices
  • List indices, get index details and mappings
  • Check cluster health, instance and cluster statistics, async tasks, shards and nodes
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to query or maintain an OpenSearch cluster, for example searching a products or logs index, counting documents, or checking whether a cluster is healthy.
Requirements
Runs locally via npx (Node.js). Needs a reachable OpenSearch server URL in OPENSEARCH_URL (defaults to and either an API key in OPENSEARCH_API_KEY or basic auth via OPENSEARCH_USERNAME and OPENSEARCH_PASSWORD.
Before you install
The server can create and delete indices and documents, so assistant actions can change or remove data in the cluster. It requires cluster credentials (OPENSEARCH_API_KEY or OPENSEARCH_USERNAME/OPENSEARCH_PASSWORD) that are passed as environment variables; scope them to the least privilege needed.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Opensearch Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
