Overview

AI-generated overview

Local MCP server that lets an assistant read Slack channels and message history and post messages through the Slack Web API using a bot token.

What you can do
  • List and look up Slack channels
  • Read channel message history
  • Post messages to Slack channels
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to pull context from Slack conversations or send updates into a channel without leaving the chat, for example summarizing a channel or posting a status note.
Requirements
Runs as a local process installed from the npm package @mrfentmen/slack-mcp over stdio. Needs a Slack bot token supplied through the SLACK_BOT_TOKEN environment variable (xoxb token), with the scopes required for the channels and actions you use. Network access to the Slack Web API.
Before you install
Requires a Slack bot token, a credential that grants access to your workspace; store it carefully and grant only the scopes needed. Posting messages writes to channels and is visible to workspace members. The server can read channel history, so consider which channels the bot is invited to.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Slack Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
