Overview
A local Unicode reference server that lets an assistant look up code point data, Unicode blocks, and emoji names for i18n and text work.
- What you can do
- Inspect official UnicodeData fields for a given code point
- Search Unicode block names and ranges
- Search official emoji test data by name or annotation
- When to use it
- Useful when working on internationalization, text processing, emoji handling, font issues, or debugging character bugs where exact code point and block facts matter.
- Requirements
- Runs as a local stdio process installed from the npm package unicode-mcp; build and start it with Node.js. It reads official Unicode data files and caches them in memory for the current process. No accounts, keys, or environment variables are declared.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Unicode Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

The server reads official Unicode data files and caches them only for the current process. Unicode normalization, rendering, grapheme segmentation, and font support are separate concerns and are not inferred by this server.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
