Overview

AI-generated overview

A local MCP server that lets an assistant generate UUIDs and check whether a given string is a valid UUID format.

What you can do
  • Generate UUIDs on demand for use in code, fixtures or records.
  • Validate a supplied string against UUID formats.
  • Runs entirely on the local machine, with no network calls.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs fresh identifiers while writing code, seeding test data, or checking that an ID a user pasted is a well-formed UUID. Small and self-contained, so it is worth adding only if identifier generation or validation comes up in your work.
Requirements
Runs as a local stdio process installed from the npm package @mrfentmen/uuid-mcp, so Node.js and an MCP client that supports local servers are needed. No account, API key, environment variable or network access is required.
Before you install
No credentials, payments or third-party data sharing are involved. Generated UUIDs are random identifiers, not secrets, so they should not be relied on as security tokens.

Installation

  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Score

25% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

  • Tools listed15 pts

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
