Overview

AI-generated overview

Hosted golf data MCP server giving an assistant PGA Tour leaderboards, hole-by-hole scorecards, course and player stats, ratings and major winner odds.

What you can do
  • Find tournaments and schedules, with dates, status, purse, winner and courses
  • Pull a tournament leaderboard with positions, rounds, earnings and points
  • Get a player's hole-by-hole scorecard, course setup and per-hole difficulty
  • Look up players, career and season stats, results, course history and head-to-head comparisons
  • Rank players by strokes-versus-field rating and list season leaders for any stat
  • Retrieve pre-tournament winner odds for the four men's majors by sportsbook
When to use it
Useful when someone wants golf analysis or answers grounded in real tournament data: results, scorecards, course fit, player form, ratings or major odds. It covers the PGA Tour by default and also the LPGA, LIV, DP World Tour and Korn Ferry Tour.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint; nothing to install. A BirdieAPI API key is required to call tools, sent as the x-api-key header, a bearer token or a query parameter. A free tier of 500 credits per month is offered; tools cost 1 to 5 credits each. A local stdio option exists via a cloned repository and Node.js with BIRDIEAPI_API_KEY.
Before you install
Every tool call spends credits from your account, and paid plans or wallet top-ups cost money once the free monthly allowance runs out. The API key is a secret; keep it out of shared configs and logs. Data is read-only, but queries and the key are sent to the third-party BirdieAPI service. Ratings are the provider's own and it is not affiliated with the tours.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open BirdieAPI in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect x-api-key credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.noahowsh%2Fbirdieapi/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

BirdieAPI MCP server

[Smithery] [MCP Registry]

The golf data API. PGA Tour leaderboards with finishing positions, earnings and points, round scores and hole-by-hole scorecards, courses with par and yardage per hole, player and course history, our own strokes-versus-field rating, par-3/4/5 scoring splits and the winner prices of the four men's majors by sportsbook. The LPGA, LIV, the DP World Tour and the Korn Ferry Tour use the same tools. REST API and MCP server. 500 free credits every month, no card.

Run it locally (stdio)

Most clients connect to https://mcp.birdieapi.com/mcp directly. For a client that launches a local process instead:

bash
git clone https://github.com/noahowsh/birdieapi-mcp.git && cd birdieapi-mcp && npm installBIRDIEAPI_API_KEY=your_key node index.js
json
{ "mcpServers": { "birdieapi": { "command": "node", "args": ["/path/to/birdieapi-mcp/index.js"], "env": { "BIRDIEAPI_API_KEY": "your_key" } } } }

It forwards to the hosted server with your key, so every tool and credit cost is the same.

Skills

Sixteen free Claude skills in skills/ turn Claude into a golf analyst on top of these tools: tournament and player lookups, strokes-versus-field ratings, par-3/4/5 and hole-by-hole scoring, course fit, a tournament simulation, odds math for the four majors' outright markets, and the methodology (leak-free features, walk-forward validation, calibration, edge detection, backtesting) to test your own models.

bash
git clone https://github.com/noahowsh/birdieapi-mcp.git

Or install them as a Claude Code plugin:

/plugin marketplace add noahowsh/birdieapi-mcp/plugin install birdieapi-skills@birdieapi

Or with the skills CLI: npx skills add noahowsh/birdieapi-mcp.

Point Claude at the skills/ folder, connect the MCP server below for live data (500 free credits every month, no card), and ask a question. Start with the dispatch skill if you are not sure which one fits. The full catalog is in skills/README.md.

Python

The official Python client is on PyPI: birdieapi.

bash
pip install birdieapiexport BIRDIEAPI_API_KEY=sk_live_...
python
from birdieapi import Client
client = Client()
events = client.list_tournaments(status="final", limit=3)["tournaments"]for e in events:    print(e["tournament_id"], e["name"], e["winner_name"], e["winning_to_par"])

Typed errors for a bad key, no credits left, not found and rate limits, automatic retries, and to_dataframe for pandas.

Quick start

This is a hosted (remote) MCP server over Streamable HTTP. There is nothing to install.

Claude Code

bash
claude mcp add --transport http birdieapi "https://mcp.birdieapi.com/mcp?key=YOUR_API_KEY"

Claude Desktop, Cursor and other clients

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "birdieapi": {      "url": "https://mcp.birdieapi.com/mcp?key=YOUR_API_KEY"    }  }}

The key can also be sent as an x-api-key header or Authorization: Bearer. Connecting and listing tools works without a key; calling a tool needs one.

REST

bash
curl -X POST https://mcp.birdieapi.com/v1/list_tournaments -H "x-api-key: YOUR_API_KEY"

Every tool is POST /v1/{tool} with a JSON body.

Examples

Runnable Python (standard library only) and Node 18+ (no dependencies) examples live in examples/:

bash
export BIRDIEAPI_API_KEY=your_keypython3 examples/python/quickstart.pynode examples/node/quickstart.mjs

See examples/README.md for details. Get a free key (500 credits a month, no card) at https://birdieapi.com/signup.
