Overview

AI-generated overview

Free remote MCP server that gives assistants real tarot draws, I Ching casts, BaZi charts and Chinese zodiac readings from Nyan Parlor.

What you can do
  • Draw tarot cards and look up card meanings, including love, career, money and yes/no leans
  • Cast I Ching hexagrams by the three-coin method and look up any of the 64 hexagrams
  • Calculate BaZi / Four Pillars charts from a birth date, time and time zone
  • Find a Chinese zodiac animal from a birth year or date, with a 2027 forecast
  • Return English or Japanese names, meanings and page links for each result
When to use it
Useful when a user asks for a tarot reading, I Ching divination, a BaZi chart or Chinese zodiac information and you want genuine random draws and consistent reference texts instead of invented cards or hexagrams.
Requirements
A remote Streamable HTTP endpoint; no API key, sign-up or local runtime. Clients add the server URL as a custom connector or remote MCP server. Every tool accepts a language option of en or ja.
Before you install
Read-only and free, but birth dates, birth times and personal questions are sent to a third-party site; the README says they are not saved while the host keeps standard request logs. Results are entertainment-style fortune telling, not factual or medical advice.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Nyan Parlor: Tarot, I Ching & BaZi in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.nyan-parlor%2Fnyan-parlor-mcp/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Tools

ToolWhat it does
draw_tarot_cardsDraws 1–10 distinct cards from a 78-card Rider–Waite–Smith deck (crypto-random, optional reversals, optional position names).
get_tarot_card_meaningKeywords, upright and reversed meaning, love, feelings, career and money readings, yes/no lean and advice for any card.
cast_i_chingThree-coin casting (six tosses), with changing lines and the relating hexagram.
get_hexagramAny of the 64 hexagrams by number, English name, Chinese character or pinyin (ambiguous pinyin returns the candidates): judgment, image, love, career, guidance and line texts.
bazi_chartBaZi / Four Pillars chart from birth date, optional time and IANA time zone: pillars with Ten Gods and hidden stems, Day Master, five elements, luck pillars, coming years. Year changes at the Start of Spring (Li Chun). Without a birth time it computes at local noon and warns when the date sits on a solar-term boundary.
chinese_zodiacZodiac animal from a birth year or date (handles Lunar New Year vs. Start of Spring for January–February births) and the 2027 Year of the Fire Goat forecast for that sign.

Every tool takes language: en (default) or ja. With ja, card and hexagram names, meanings, BaZi terms (日干・通変星・大運・空亡) and links come back in Japanese, matching tarotoper.com/ja. Japanese card names (「ソードの3」「恋人」) and hexagram names (「火山旅」) are accepted as input.

Every result links to the matching page on tarotoper.com so users can read further.

Example

"Draw three cards for: will my friendship recover after our fight?"

The assistant calls draw_tarot_cards (count: 3, positions Past / Present / Future), then get_tarot_card_meaning with topic: "feelings" for each card, and answers with the cards that were actually drawn.

ChatGPT / Codex plugin

plugin.json + mcp.json + skills/ at the repository root form a portable plugin package (server + reading skill) for the ChatGPT and Codex plugin directory.

Agent Skill

skills/nyan-parlor-tarot is an Agent Skill that teaches an assistant how to give a reading with these tools (choose the spread from the question, restate positions, answer first, don't flip on pushback, keep facts and guesses apart), with offline draw and I Ching scripts for use without the server.

About

Nyan Parlor is an AI fortune-telling parlor for tarot, I Ching and BaZi at tarotoper.com (日本語: tarotoper.com/ja). This repository holds the public parts of the integration: the plugin manifest, the MCP connection config and the reading skill. The hosted server is free to use; no key needed.

On the site itself, readings come from Geumeum, the parlor's AI tarot reader: plain-spoken and a little lazy-sounding, sharp about the situation but never at you, remembering your story across readings and telling you what you can do next. Tools connected to your own AI give it real cards and correct charts, but the reading is written in your AI's own voice. More about her: Who is Geumeum? (日本語: クムムってどんな占い師?).

Draw tarot cards

Draw tarot cards at random from a full 78-card Rider–Waite–Smith deck (cryptographically random, no repeats). Returns each card with its position, upright/reversed orientation, keywords and a link to its full meaning. Use this instead of inventing cards when a user asks for a tarot reading.

get_tarot_card_meaning

Tarot card meaning

Look up the meaning of a tarot card: keywords, upright and reversed meaning, love, feelings, career and money readings, and whether it leans yes or no. Accepts names like "The Tower", "3 of Cups", "Queen of Swords" or "ace of coins".

Parameterscardrequiredtopiclanguageorientation

Parameterslanguagequestion

Look up one of the 64 I Ching hexagrams by number (1–64), English name ("The Wanderer"), Chinese character (旅), Japanese name (火山旅) or pinyin (ambiguous pinyin like "lu" returns the candidates). Returns its essence, judgment, image, love and career readings, guidance and the six line texts.

Parameterslineshexagramrequiredlanguage

bazi_chart

BaZi (Four Pillars) chart

Calculate a BaZi / Four Pillars of Destiny chart from a birth date, optional birth time and the birthplace time zone. Uses solar-term boundaries (the year changes at the Start of Spring, Li Chun) via an astronomical calendar engine.
