Overview

AI-generated overview

Local MCP server that converts coding-agent instruction files and MCP configs between Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor and Gemini CLI.

What you can do
  • Convert instruction text between CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, Cursor rules and GEMINI.md, including symlink or import sharing
  • Convert MCP server configs between Claude/Cursor JSON, Codex TOML and Gemini settings JSON
  • Scan a project read-only for existing agent config files and skills folders and list tools with no config
  • Generate missing configs from existing ones, dry run by default, skipping existing files unless overwrite is set
  • Look up where each tool reads its config, with doc links and a verified date, returning unknown where docs are silent
When to use it
Useful when you switch or mix coding agents and want one project's rules and MCP server setup carried over to another, or when you need to know where a given agent reads its config before editing it.
Requirements
Runs locally over stdio as a local process; needs Node.js 18 or later and npm 10 or later. The package is not on npm, so it is run from GitHub via npx, or installed from the MCPB bundle or a clone. No accounts, keys or environment variables are declared.
Before you install
migrate_project writes files when called with write: true; it is a dry run by default and skips existing files unless overwrite is true, and it merges the Gemini settings file. Review the dry-run output before enabling writes, since it changes agent configuration files in your project.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Agent Config Bridge in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

agent-config-bridge

An MCP server that moves your coding-agent setup between Claude Code, Codex CLI, Cursor and Gemini CLI: instruction files (CLAUDE.md, AGENTS.md, .cursor/rules/*.mdc, .cursorrules, GEMINI.md) and MCP server configs (mcpServers JSON ⇄ Codex config.toml ⇄ Gemini settings.json).

Runs locally over stdio. No network calls, no telemetry. It writes files only when you call migrate_project with write: true.

Prefer a web UI? Use the same converter in your browser at getaicodingagent.com.

Tools

ToolWhat it does
convert_rulesInstruction text from one tool → files and paths for the others. Can also share one AGENTS.md through a symlink or an @AGENTS.md import
convert_mcp_configMCP servers: Claude Code / Claude Desktop / Cursor JSON ⇄ Codex [mcp_servers.*] TOML ⇄ Gemini httpUrl/url
detect_agent_configsScans a project read-only for every agent config file and skills folder, and lists which tools have no config yet
migrate_projectGenerates the missing configs from the existing ones. Dry run by default. Existing files are skipped unless overwrite: true; .gemini/settings.json is merged
compat_matrixWhere each tool reads its config, with official doc links and a verified date. Anything the official docs don't state is returned as unknown

Install

You need Node.js 18 or later and npm 10 or later (npm 9.2 fails to run GitHub packages through npx). The package is not on npm. Run it straight from GitHub (dist/ is committed, so there's no build step):

bash
npx -y github:onehumanbeing/agent-config-bridge

Claude Code

bash
claude mcp add agent-config-bridge -- npx -y github:onehumanbeing/agent-config-bridge

Codex CLI

bash
codex mcp add agent-config-bridge -- npx -y github:onehumanbeing/agent-config-bridge

or add this to ~/.codex/config.toml:

toml
[mcp_servers.agent-config-bridge]command = "npx"args = ["-y", "github:onehumanbeing/agent-config-bridge"]

Cursor: .cursor/mcp.json (project) or ~/.cursor/mcp.json (global). Gemini CLI: .gemini/settings.json or ~/.gemini/settings.json:

json
{ "mcpServers": { "agent-config-bridge": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "github:onehumanbeing/agent-config-bridge"] } } }

MCPB bundle: download agent-config-bridge-0.1.0.mcpb from the v0.1.0 release and open it in an MCPB-compatible client (for example, double-click it to install in Claude Desktop). Dependencies are bundled.

From a clone

bash
git clone https://github.com/onehumanbeing/agent-config-bridge && cd agent-config-bridgeclaude mcp add agent-config-bridge -- node "$PWD/dist/index.js"

MCP Registry name: io.github.onehumanbeing/agent-config-bridge

Example prompts

  • "Detect the agent configs in this repo and migrate them to Codex and Cursor (dry run first)."
  • "Convert this Claude Desktop config to Codex TOML."
  • "Where does Gemini CLI read its MCP config? Use compat_matrix."

Score

50% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
