Overview

AI-generated overview

Local, read-only MCP server that gives an assistant deterministic tools to scope and validate browser-game prototypes and browse OpenGame showcases.

What you can do
  • Scope a browser-game vertical slice and pick a rendering approach (Canvas/DOM or Three.js/WebGL)
  • Validate a game brief before building
  • Discover the public OpenGame showcase examples and their prompts
  • All tools are deterministic and read-only, with no connection to OpenGame production systems
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to help plan, scope or sanity-check a small browser-game prototype, or to look up OpenGame's public showcase examples and prompts as reference.
Requirements
Runs as a local stdio process installed from the npm package opengame-browser-game-mcp; Node.js and npm are needed. No API key, environment variables or headers are declared, and it does not connect to OpenGame production systems.
Before you install
The server is described as local and read-only, so it should not modify your data. The README notes that the showcase repository contains only public material and no secrets, user data or billing data; still, review any generated brief before acting on it.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Browser Game in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

This repository is intentionally small. It contains public showcase material only: playable static HTML examples, prompts, and links to the matching OpenGame pages. It does not contain OpenGame production runtime code, deployment configuration, credentials, user data, billing data, or analytics exports.

Showcases

Run locally

Open the HTML files directly in a browser:

bash
open showcases/golden-gate-bridge/index.htmlopen showcases/vaporwave-platformer/index.html

The Golden Gate Bridge showcase imports Three.js from jsDelivr. The Vaporwave Platformer is self-contained.

OpenGame Skills

Reusable public Skills now have a dedicated canonical repository: opengameapp/OpenGame-skills. Install them from that source:

bash
npx skills add opengameapp/OpenGame-skills \ --skill opengame-browser-game-builder
npx skills add opengameapp/OpenGame-skills \ --skill opengame-marketplace-publisher

The legacy skills/ folder is retained temporarily so existing marketplace source links do not break during migration. New Skills and future versions are maintained only in the dedicated repository. See its Skill catalog.

OpenGame MCP servers

The mcp/ directory contains independently installable Model Context Protocol servers. The first server, OpenGame Browser Game MCP, gives AI clients deterministic tools to scope a browser-game vertical slice, choose Canvas/DOM or Three.js/WebGL, validate a brief, and discover these public showcases. It is local, read-only, requires no API key, and never connects to OpenGame production systems.

Install it from the public npm package or find io.github.opengameapp/browser-game in the Official MCP Registry. It is also listed on LobeHub Market. See the MCP publishing guide for the versioned release process.

Remix with OpenGame

Use the prompt files in prompts/ as starting points, then remix them with OpenGame on the official website:

Score

50% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

  • Tools listed15 pts

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
