Overview

AI-generated overview

A remote MCP server that tells an assistant whether an AI model is still live, when it sunsets, and what to migrate to, across OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and Bed

What you can do
Look up one model's lifecycle: status, release, deprecation and shutdown dates, days until shutdown, recommended migration target and source URL. Quickly check whether a model is still callable, with its sunset date and days remaining. List models being shut down within a chosen number of days (default 90) across all tracked providers, with migration targets. Export the full cross-vendor lifecycle index for all tracked models.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant writes or runs code that names a specific model and needs to confirm at runtime that it still exists, or when planning migrations away from models nearing shutdown. Also handy for auditing which models in a stack are deprecated or retired.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no local runtime, package, account, API key or header is declared. Network access to the hosted endpoint is required.
Before you install
The full export tool is free only during the public preview and is described as metered via x402 once live, so calls could later involve payment. Lifecycle data is transcribed from provider pages and verified on a stated date, so it may lag provider changes; a model's status on a hosting platform can differ from the model-maker's own API.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Ai Model Lifecycle Index in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.oscarlopez-gif%2Fai-model-lifecycle-index/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

AI Model Lifecycle & Deprecation Index

A source-cited, cross-vendor record of AI model lifecycle — is a model still live, when does it sunset, and what's the migration target — across OpenAI, Anthropic, Google (Gemini), and Amazon Bedrock. Every date is transcribed from the provider's own official deprecation/lifecycle page and carries that source URL. Built for agents that need to know, at runtime, whether the model they're about to call still exists.

Coverage

71 models across 4 providers (active / preview / deprecated / retired), with status, release / deprecation / shutdown dates, and provider-recommended replacements. Verified 2026-09-08.

REST endpoints (free)

  • GET /v1/lifecycle/model?id=ID — one model: status, dates, days-to-shutdown, replacement, source
  • GET /v1/lifecycle/deprecations?within_days=90 — models shutting down within N days
  • GET /v1/lifecycle/provider?provider=openai|anthropic|google|aws-bedrock — a provider's models
  • GET /v1/lifecycle/stats — counts by provider/status + next shutdown
  • GET /v1/lifecycle/all — full export (free during the public preview; metered via x402 when live)

MCP tools

Endpoint: https://lifecycle.oscar-lopez.com/mcp

  • model_lifecycle — full lifecycle of one model (free)
  • is_model_live — is a model still callable, with its sunset date (free)
  • upcoming_deprecations — models sunsetting within N days across all providers (free)
  • get_model_lifecycle_all — full export (free during preview)

Discovery

/.well-known/agent-card.json (A2A), /.well-known/x402, /openapi.json

How it's built

Cloudflare Worker + D1. The index is derived live from a models table; days-until-shutdown is computed at request time. Values come from official provider pages only; fields a provider doesn't publish are left blank rather than inferred. A model's lifecycle on a hosting platform (e.g. Amazon Bedrock) can differ from the model-maker's own API — each row records which surface it describes.
