Overview

AI-generated overview

Lets an assistant see and control Android phones and emulators over adb, without installing anything on the device.

What you can do
Connects to Android devices and emulators through adb and exposes the screen as a short list of visible text and touchable elements with their centre, type, id and state. The assistant can tap elements by name, tap or swipe coordinates, type text, press keys, take screenshots, list and launch apps, install APKs, and read recent logcat output per app. There is deliberately no free shell tool; every action is named and bounded.
When to use it
Useful for testing your own app the way a user would and reading the resulting crash in logcat, for repetitive phone chores such as changing notification settings, and for accessibility scenarios where a screen is described and acted on by voice. It suits anyone who wants an assistant to drive a real Android device or emulator.
Requirements
Runs as a local process on the user's machine, installed from PyPI as android-mcp-lite and started with uvx or pip. The phone or emulator must have USB or wireless debugging enabled and be visible to adb; platform-tools must be installed. With several devices, pass the serial from devices to each tool. Set ADB if adb is not on the PATH or in ~/Android/Sdk/platform-tools. Desktop only.
Before you install
The assistant can act on the device: tapping, swiping, typing, pressing keys, launching apps and installing APKs. The server's instructions ask the assistant to check with you before sending messages, paying or deleting anything, but this is guidance rather than a hard limit. install_apk and logcat are written but not yet exercised on a device. Version 0.1, tested on an Android 14 emulator.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Android over adb in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Score

25% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

  • Tools listed15 pts

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
