NIRA File Intel MCP

A local MCP server that gives an assistant smart file intelligence: searching, deduplicating, organizing and analyzing files on your machine.

What you can do

Search files under a chosen root directory and locate content by query or name. Detect and deduplicate duplicate files. Organize files into a tidier structure. Analyze files and report on what is stored. Runs as a local process over stdio, so the assistant works directly with files on the user's machine.

When to use it

Useful when you want an assistant to help clean up, search or make sense of a local file collection — finding duplicates, reorganizing folders, or answering questions about what files exist — rather than working file by file by hand.

Requirements

Runs locally as a Python package (nira-file-intel) over stdio, so Python and the package must be installed. The optional FILE_INTEL_ROOT environment variable sets the default root directory to search; it defaults to the home directory. No authentication is declared.
