Requirements
Runs locally over stdio via uvx, so Python and the uv tool must be installed. Requires a PDF.co account and API key supplied in the X_API_KEY environment variable. Network access to the PDF.co API is needed, and files are uploaded to PDF.co servers for processing.
Before you install
Documents and images you process are uploaded to PDF.co's servers, so avoid sending confidential material without checking their terms. The API key in X_API_KEY is a billable credential; usage may incur PDF.co charges. Tools modify documents (merge, split, fill forms, add or remove passwords, strip text layers), so review outputs before relying on them. Five Excel conversion tools are scheduled for retirement on January 5, 2027.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open PDF.co in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

These tools will remain available until the retirement date. After January 5, 2027, requests to their underlying API endpoints will no longer be supported. excel_to_pdf is not affected.
