Search 35M+ PubMed, 400K+ ClinicalTrials.gov & ISRCTN trials. Prompts included. No API key.

Overview

AI-generated overview

A local MCP server that lets an assistant search PubMed literature and ClinicalTrials.gov and ISRCTN clinical trial registries, with no API key needed.

What you can do
Search biomedical literature across 35M+ peer-reviewed papers via PubMed/NCBI E-utilities and retrieve results for a topic or drug query. Search clinical trials on ClinicalTrials.gov and UK/European trials on ISRCTN, including recruiting status. Run built-in prompts that assemble an evidence and trial brief for a condition, a structured adverse-event and safety profile for a drug, or a patient eligibility assessment across recruiting trials. Read reference resources on trial phases and FDA designations, high-impact journals by specialty, and FDA databases for drug and regulatory research.
When to use it
Useful for life sciences research, clinical trial coordination, and drug discovery work where an assistant should ground answers in published literature and active trial listings rather than general knowledge. Also handy for quick cross-checks of published evidence against recruiting trials for a condition.
Requirements
Runs as a local process installed from the PyPI package aria-mcp-server, requiring Python 3.12 or newer; start it with the aria-mcp-server command and register it in the client's MCP configuration. It needs outbound network access to the public PubMed, ClinicalTrials.gov and ISRCTN APIs. No API keys or environment variables are declared.
Before you install
Queries and search terms are sent to the public NCBI, ClinicalTrials.gov and ISRCTN APIs, so treat anything you search as leaving your machine. Results are registry and literature data only and should be verified before clinical or regulatory use; the eligibility prompt is an assessment aid, not medical advice.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Aria Mcp Server in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Score

50% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

  • Tools listed15 pts
