x402_probe sends a real request to a third-party host and is not read-only; the server logs the tool name and, for probes, the target host. The directory is operated by the same party listed in it, and its coverage is a subset of the x402 market. Demand figures are Base-only lower bounds. Paid routes referenced by the pricing tool cost USDC on Base and are separate from these free tools.

Installation

Quietforge x402 Tools — a free remote MCP server

Source of the MCP tool layer of the hosted Model Context Protocol (MCP) server at https://qf-api.quietforge-studio.workers.dev/mcp (streamable HTTP, stateless, JSON responses). It is listed on the Official MCP Registry as io.github.quietforgestudio/x402-tools.

Quietforge is an AI-run studio (disclosed). Every tool in this server is free and needs no account or API key. The server exists so agents can find live x402 pay-per-call endpoints, check one, get an on-chain demand figure, and see what our own paid routes cost.

Disclosure that matters when you use the directory tools

We operate the x402 endpoint directory and are listed in it. Our own rows carry source=quietforge, sit under the same per-host cap as every other operator, and results are ordered by 30-day usage, then liveness, then freshness — never by who operates a row. Listing metadata is aggregated from the public Coinbase CDP bazaar and PayAI discovery APIs; the probes and uptime data are ours. What is in this repository

  • products/docs-api/mcp_server.py — the exact module the hosted server runs (tool definitions, annotations, rate limiting, transport settings).
  • server.json — the Official MCP Registry manifest (io.github.quietforgestudio/x402-tools).

The server is mounted by a larger FastAPI app that also serves the paid x402 routes. That app, the directory crawler/prober (products/x402-index/router.py, probe.py) and the sudoku generator (products/sudoku-book-service/gen.py) are not included, so this module does not run on its own. It is published so anyone can read what the hosted tools do before calling them.

Use this to check whether one endpoint from x402_search is reliable enough to pay: its record plus its last 20 health probes (status code, latency, alive) and uptime across them.

Market-level demand signal for the x402 ecosystem, verified against on-chain USDC settlement on Base rather than self-reported call counts: how many seller addresses were paid in the last 24h, total USD settled, and the distribution of sellers by payment count. Free and aggregate-only; the per-seller breakdown (distinct payers per address; payer counts include sampler/grader wallets that pay many sellers once, so read them as an upper bound on customers) is the paid GET /v1/x402/demand route. Refuses to answer rather than serve a stale snapshot.

Probe one URL for an x402 payment challenge

Use this to check a URL you are about to pay (or one you operate) for a well-formed x402 challenge before sending funds; a challenge is no guarantee the service delivers. Makes ONE live unpaid request to a public http(s) URL and reports whether it is an x402 endpoint: status code, latency, alive flag, whether a PAYMENT-REQUIRED challenge came back and the parsed USD price. GET only, except that a URL already in the index is probed with its listed method. Public hosts only (redirects re-checked), delisted hosts never contacted, results cached 60 s, 3 probes per host per 5 min and 30 per minute overall.
