Overview

AI-generated overview

Quotor lets an assistant check eligibility, run live home and auto insurance quotes from multiple carriers, compare options, and hand off to a licensed agency…

What you can do
  • Check eligibility for home, auto or bundled coverage by state and product
  • Start, update and resume quotes, adding people, drivers, vehicles, property, coverages and discounts
  • Request carrier rating, poll quote status, and review option details such as deductibles, discounts and payment plans
  • Check whether slower carriers later returned a better price
  • Request a bind handoff by email link or inline checkout link, and submit leads for other insurance lines
  • Record a customer's request to stop being contacted
When to use it
Useful when a user asks about home, auto or bundled insurance prices, wants to compare carrier options, or is ready to start a purchase with a licensed agency. Coverage is currently Texas, with other lines handled through lead capture.
Requirements
A Streamable HTTP MCP client pointed at the remote endpoint; no local runtime or package. No key is required for anonymous use, which is rate- and spend-capped. An optional partner key can be sent as an Authorization bearer header for dedicated caps and attribution. Quote flows need customer details such as email and address.
Before you install
Quotes collect personal details (people, drivers, vehicles, property, email) that create prospect records with the agency. Bind requests and lead submissions send the customer's information to a licensed agency and trigger follow-up contact; a bind link is emailed to the address on the quote. No payment is taken by the tools, but a bind request starts a real purchase process. A partner key is a secret and should be kept out of shared configs.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Quotor — Home & Auto Insurance Quotes in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.quotor%2Fhome-auto-insurance-quotes/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

README

home-auto-insurance-quotes

Quotor — an agent skill that gets real home & auto insurance quotes, and starts a binding, through a network of licensed independent agencies.

This repository packages a portable Agent Skill that any AI agent or assistant (Claude, ChatGPT, Hermes, OpenClaw, Codex-style agents, and other MCP-capable runtimes) can pull in to quote and help bind home, auto, and bundled insurance. The skill is the front door; a hardened MCP server is the infrastructure behind it.

Coverage: Texas today (home, auto, home+auto bundles; renters & other lines via lead capture), expanding nationally. The skill always checks eligibility per state and product before quoting.

What it does

  • Real quotes, not estimates. Returns live multi-carrier rates for the customer's state and product.
  • Two integration styles:
    • Conversational — an assistant does a quick intake in chat and reads back quotes.
    • Agentic — a system connects the MCP server directly and runs the full quote-to-bind flow.
  • Quote → bind handoff. When the customer is ready, the skill starts a binding by routing them to a licensed agency with a secure link. A licensed human finalizes the policy — the network orchestrates the shopping; the agency owns the relationship.

How it's structured

home-auto-insurance-quotes/├── SKILL.md # the skill itself (agentskills.io spec)├── README.md # this file (for humans browsing the repo)└── references/ └── mcp-connection.md # endpoint, auth (none required), tool schemas, raw examples
  • SKILL.md is what agents load. It documents the two usage pathways, the tool set and call order, intake guidance, worked examples, and the MCP connection details.
  • references/mcp-connection.md is the technical reference for the MCP endpoint: URL, authentication, context headers, per-tool schemas, and copy-paste JSON-RPC examples.

Connecting to the MCP

  • Endpoint: https://mcp.quotor.ai (Streamable HTTP, JSON-RPC 2.0).
  • Auth: none required. All tools work anonymously — connect and quote, no sign-up, no key (anonymous traffic is rate-limited and spend-capped server-side). End customers never need a key.
  • Optional partner key (instant, self-serve): integrating at volume? POST <endpoint>/keys with { "partner_label": "...", "email": "..." } → returns an api_key shown once. Send it as Authorization: Bearer <api_key> to give your integration its own rate/spend caps and attribution instead of sharing the anonymous pool.

Add it to your MCP client (claude.ai custom connectors, Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, or any Streamable-HTTP MCP client) — no headers needed:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "quotor": {      "type": "http",      "url": "https://mcp.quotor.ai"    }  }}

The machine-readable manifest is server.json (official MCP registry schema) — that's what client tooling and directory crawlers read.

See references/mcp-connection.md for the full handshake.

Security & privacy posture

  • Quote-only scope. The MCP cannot reach carrier portal credentials, cannot service or cancel existing policies, and cannot finalize a bind without a licensed human. A bind request is a routed handoff, not an automated purchase.
  • Rate- and spend-capped: anonymous traffic draws per-IP and per-quote budgets under a hard daily spend ceiling; optional partner keys carry their own caps — no single caller can run up cost.
  • Every call logged; anomalous usage (auth-failure spikes, off-hours surges) is monitored.
  • Customer data is protected: quotes create prospect records and never overwrite existing customers; a returning customer's current premium is only ever returned to an authenticated partner, never on an anonymous call.

Status

Live. The MCP is deployed in production — rate and spend caps and full audit logging are in force; API keys are optional (partner attribution + dedicated caps). Coverage is Texas today (home, auto, bundles; other lines via lead capture), expanding nationally; always call check_eligibility first.

check_eligibility

Check eligibility

Checks whether Libertas Insurance, a licensed independent agency, can quote and bind home, auto, or bundled (home + auto) insurance in the customer's state. A good first step when someone asks about insurance prices, switching carriers, or shopping for coverage, before collecting personal details. Pass the customer's two-letter state if you know it; otherwise the result lists the states Libertas serves so you can ask. Returns whether quoting and binding are available, plus a plain-language explanation.

Parametersstateintentproductrequired

start_quote

Start a quote

Opens a new home, auto, or bundled (home + auto) quote with Libertas Insurance and returns a quote_id that every later call uses. For outside assistants the result also carries short notices Libertas must give the customer; notices.how_to_use explains when each applies. What the quote needs (one topic at a time keeps it quick): 1. Full name and date of birth for each person on the policy, with their relationship to the main applicant. 2. Home: the address of the home to insure and whether it's a new purchase (if so, also where the customer lives today), mortgage/escrow, and roof age if known ("not sure" is fine). 3. Auto: year, make, and model of each vehicle, plus the name and date of birth of any other drivers. 4. Email, phone, and the requested coverage start date (policy_terms.effective_date, YYYY-MM-DD). Then call get_quote_options. Libertas never needs a Social Security number, driver's license number, or payment details in the conversation; when one is required, the customer enters it on Libertas's own secure page.

update_quote

Update quote details

Adds or changes details on a quote: people, drivers, vehicles, the property, coverages, discounts, prior insurance, and policy terms. The patch schema lists every field Libertas accepts. Safe to call repeatedly; the latest value for a field wins, and lists replace earlier lists. Returns which fields were applied, which were rejected and why, and whether the quote has enough to run. Credit scores, driving and claims records, and decoded vehicle or public-record property details come straight from data providers, so they aren't accepted here, and carrier choice is made by the rating engine. If the customer changes a coverage after prices come back, apply it here and call get_quote_options again; re-quoting is free and takes about a minute. Coverage choices are the customer's, and a licensed Libertas agent can advise on what limits make sense.

Parameterspatchrequiredquote_idrequiredmeta_codes

get_quote_options

Get quote options

Starts rating with Libertas's panel of A-rated carriers and returns right away. First prices usually arrive within 30-90 seconds as honest ranges (the low end is the carrier's own preliminary figure). Libertas then keeps working for 2-10 minutes to capture exact, bindable rates directly from carrier systems, so options move from 'estimate' to 'verified'. Follow progress with check_quote_status every turn or two. Calling this again with unchanged details returns the run already in progress; changed details start a fresh run.

Parametersquote_idrequiredmax_options

check_quote_status

Check quote status

Reports rating progress and, once available, the quote options. status is one of: - running: prices are still arriving; check again in a turn or two. - quoted: options are ready. While finishing.active is true, Libertas is still capturing exact rates, so ranges are estimates (the final number may land within or below the range, but that isn't guaranteed); check back later. Options marked 'verified' are exact, bindable numbers. - needs_data: carriers need more information first. needs.prompts lists each item, who it's for, and the update_quote field to set; apply the customer's answers, then call get_quote_options again. When needs.secure_link is present, that item (a driver's license number) is entered on Libertas's secure page instead of in chat: share the link with the customer, and rates re-run automatically once they submit it. - timeout or error: offer to try again with get_quote_options. Carriers appear as 'Carrier A-Home', 'Carrier B-Auto', and so on; the real carrier name is shown on Libertas's secure bind page.

Parametersquote_idrequiredmax_options

get_option_details

Get option details

Returns the coverage breakdown, deductibles, discounts applied, and payment plans for one option (for example opt_home_a), so the customer can compare before choosing. The carrier stays masked as 'Carrier A-Home' and so on.

Parametersquote_idrequiredoption_idrequired

request_bind_inline

Request to bind

Sends the customer's chosen option(s) to Libertas's licensed team as a bind request and returns a secure checkout link on Libertas's site. This is a request, not a purchase: no payment is taken and no coverage starts from this call. A licensed agent verifies underwriting, collects payment on the secure page, and confirms coverage with the carrier, and the customer can change or cancel before then. Appropriate once the customer clearly picks an option (for example "I'll take Carrier A-Home"); pay_plan is required when an auto option is included.

Parameterspay_planquote_idrequiredbest_timeoption_idoption_idscontact_prefcustomer_noteswater_selections

check_late_arrivals

Check for better late rates

Checks whether a slower carrier has come back with a better price since the options were first shown. has_improvement is true only when a new rate beats the earlier best by at least $100 a year or 5%. Useful when the customer hesitates over price after seeing options. If nothing improved, it's best to say so plainly rather than suggest a better price is coming.

Parametersquote_idrequired

submit_lead

Ask an agent to follow up

Asks a licensed Libertas agent to follow up with the customer: for insurance Libertas doesn't quote in chat (renters, condo, landlord, umbrella, life, commercial, motorcycle, boat, RV, and more), or when a home/auto customer would rather talk to someone later. Needs what they're interested in plus an email or phone number. Creates a follow-up task; an agent typically reaches out within one business day by phone or email. Best to confirm with the customer before sending their contact details.

Parametersemailnotesphoneinterestrequiredquote_idlast_namefirst_namepreferred_contact_timepreferred_contact_method

resume_quote

Resume a quote

Looks up a quote started earlier, by its quote_id. Returns the quote's status, whether options are ready, and what's still needed. Saved personal details are returned only to the same platform user who started the quote.

Parametersquote_idrequiredverification

stop_contact

Stop contact from Libertas

Records that the customer doesn't want Libertas to contact them by phone call, text, email, or any of these. Appropriate whenever the customer asks, in any wording, to stop hearing from Libertas; Libertas honors it across its follow-up systems. Pass the quote_id when there is one, or the email and/or phone the customer wants removed.
