Paid-per-call data for agents: trading calendars, futures, macro, LEI, VAT, risk events (x402)
Overview
Local MCP server giving assistants 53 paid, per-call market data tools (exchange hours, futures, macro, calendars, risk) plus 5 free helpers, paid in USDC via…
- What you can do
- Check exchange hours, holidays, next open/close and trading countdowns
- Look up futures front month, expirations, roll calendars, contract specs and position sizing
- Retrieve macro data: Treasury yield curve and spreads, ECB FX rates, COT positioning, reference rates, inflation
- Query calendars: options and VIX expirations, economic releases, central bank meetings, Treasury auctions, banking days, index rebalances, payment cutoffs
- Run risk and compliance checks: weather alerts, earthquakes, FDA recalls, sanctions screening
- Look up reference data such as LEI, time zones, EU VAT rates, VIN, IBAN, BIC, country and currency info; free tools list the catalog, payment status and supported markets
- When to use it
- Useful when an assistant needs precise trading-calendar, futures, macro or compliance reference data for market analysis, scheduling or settlement questions, and you are willing to pay a few cents in USDC per call.
- Requirements
- Runs locally via uvx (or pip) with Python; requires uv or Python. Paid tools need a funded USDC wallet on Base, supplied through X402_KEY_FILE or X402_PRIVATE_KEY, with optional MAX_USDC_PER_CALL and MAX_USDC_PER_SESSION budgets. Network access to the x402-protected HTTP APIs is required; free tools work without a key.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Market Data (x402) in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
README
Market Data MCP
An MCP server that gives AI assistants and agents 53 paid data tools plus 5 free helper tools:
Exchanges: NYSE, Nasdaq, LSE, Xetra, SIX, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Shanghai, ASX, CME equity futures. Futures: ES, MES, NQ, MNQ, YM, MYM, RTY, M2K, FDAX, FDXM, FESX, FSMI. Macro data comes from the U.S. Treasury (public domain), the ECB (euro reference rates; source: ECB statistics) the CFTC Commitments of Traders report, GLEIF (CC0), NWS, USGS, openFDA, U.S. Treasury Fiscal Data and NHTSA vPIC (public domain).
How payment works
Each paid tool calls an HTTP API protected by x402. The server pays automatically in USDC on Base, using a wallet key you provide, and only:
- to the known wallets of these APIs (any other payee is refused),
- in USDC on Base mainnet,
- up to
MAX_USDC_PER_CALLper call (default 0.05) andMAX_USDC_PER_SESSIONper server start (default 1.00).
Without a key the free tools work and paid tools explain how to enable payment.
Use a separate, small wallet for
X402_PRIVATE_KEYwith only a few USDC on Base. Never use your main wallet. No ETH is needed for gas; the x402 facilitator pays it.
Install (Claude Desktop, Cursor, any MCP client)
Requires uv. Add this to your MCP client config (Claude Desktop: Settings → Developer → Edit Config):
X402_KEY_FILE points to a file with the key (plain text or JSON with private_key);
alternatively set X402_PRIVATE_KEY directly. Without uv: pip install x402-market-data-mcp
and use "command": "python", "args": ["-m", "market_data_mcp"].
Then ask for example: "Is the NYSE open on 27 November 2026 at 18:00 UTC?", "What is the ES roll date in December?" or "Show the current US yield curve and the 2s10s spread."
Direct HTTP use
The same data is available as x402 HTTP APIs, listed in the Coinbase x402 Bazaar:

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
- Reached in the last 30 days25 pts
Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
