Google News (via Apify)
io.github.retracnv1.0.0Updated Oct 5, 2026
Google News for AI agents: headlines, sources, dates and article URLs, with time filters.
Overview
Lets an assistant search Google News through Apify and return headlines, sources, dates and article URLs with time filters.
- What it does
- This remote MCP server exposes an Apify actor that queries Google News for any topic, company or keyword. Each result row contains the headline, snippet, source, ISO publish time and the publisher's article URL. Searches support time filters from the past hour to the past year, sorting by relevance or date, any country and language, and up to 300 articles per search. It returns metadata and links only, not full article text.
- When to use it
- Use it when an assistant needs current news coverage, source tracking or dated headlines for a topic, company or keyword. It suits research, monitoring and briefing tasks where article links and publication dates matter more than full text.
- Requirements
- A remote MCP endpoint at mcp.apify.com, reachable over the network. An Apify API token is required, sent in the Authorization header as a Bearer token; a free Apify account provides one. Usage is billed per article returned.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Google News (via Apify) in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Other MCP clients
Add this to your client's mcpServers config.

FAQ
Is there an official Google News API? No. Google retired the Google News API years ago. Google News Scraper on Apify returns Google News results as data through Apify's API, clients and MCP.
Do I get the full article text? You get the headline, snippet, source, date and URL; pass the URLs to a content crawler for full text.
