Overview

AI-generated overview

Turns Markdown chapters and a cover image into KDP-ready Kindle EPUB, print interior PDF and wrap cover PDF, plus an upload checklist.

What you can do
  • Build a book from a manuscript folder: EPUB 3, print interior PDF and full-wrap cover PDF, plus a KDP upload checklist
  • Compute paperback spine width from page count and paper type
  • List supported print trim sizes in inches
When to use it
Useful when you have a book manuscript in Markdown and want publish-ready Kindle and print files for Amazon KDP without doing layout by hand. Also handy for quick spine-width and trim-size calculations.
Requirements
Runs locally over stdio, installed from PyPI with pip or run via uvx; Python tooling required. No accounts, API keys or environment variables are declared. The README also mentions a hosted API with a free tier of 3 builds a day and a license key for unlimited builds.
Before you install
The README states it only produces files and never logs in to KDP, so uploading and publishing stay manual. Check output in KDP's previewer before publishing, and disclose AI use where KDP rules require it. The hosted API receives your manuscript text and cover image, and its free host sleeps when idle, so the first request can take about a minute.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Pressready in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

PressReady

Manuscript in, publish-ready book out. Give it Markdown chapters, metadata and a front-cover image. It returns:

  1. Kindle EPUB 3 (cover embedded, TOC, front/back matter)
  2. Print interior PDF at the requested trim size (5x8, 5.5x8.5, 6x9, 8.5x11)
  3. Full-wrap paperback cover PDF (spine width computed from page count and paper type)
  4. Upload checklist (JSON) with the values KDP asks for

mcp-name: io.github.ridhwaan-ai/pressready

Install: pip install pressready (or run without installing: uvx pressready mcp). Live API: https://pressready-wp38.onrender.com (agent docs: /llms.txt; pricing: /v1/pricing). Free tier: 3 builds a day per client; unlimited with a license key. The free host sleeps when idle, so the first request can take about a minute.

CLI

pip install pressreadypressready build manuscript/ --trim 5.5x8.5 --paper cream

Optional manuscript/book.json flags (used by the CLI and MCP; the API takes the same names as body fields): "print_toc": true adds a printed Contents page with page numbers to the interior PDF; "own_front_matter": true skips our title/copyright pages when your front matter already has them.

MCP server

uvx pressready mcp

MCP client config:

Notes

PressReady produces files; it never logs in to KDP or any other site. Check the output in KDP's previewer before publishing. Output is generated by software; disclose AI use in KDP where its rules require it.
