Overview

AI-generated overview

Bridge that lets an assistant read and manage App Store keyword rankings tracked in the Ascope macOS app, plus research new keywords.

What you can do
  • List tracked apps and their keywords with rank, change, popularity and difficulty
  • Read daily rank history for a keyword and per-country app ratings
  • Research any keyword, get App Store search suggestions, and find untracked keywords an app already ranks for
  • Search the App Store for app IDs and see similar or competing apps
  • Start or stop tracking keywords and apps, and refresh rankings on demand
When to use it
Useful for App Store Optimization work on a Mac: checking which keywords slipped, comparing ranks across countries, and finding and starting to track new keywords without leaving the assistant.
Requirements
macOS 14 or later with the Ascope app installed, open, and its MCP server enabled in Settings; a paid Ascope Pro license; Node.js 18 or later for the npm bridge. It forwards to a local endpoint, default overridable with ASCOPE_MCP_URL. No API key.
Before you install
Requires a paid Ascope Pro subscription with no free tier. The tools write data: they add and remove tracked keywords and apps and refresh rankings in your Ascope account. With Ascope closed, only a setup tool is offered until the app is opened.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Ascope Mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

ascope-mcp

MCP server for Ascope, a native macOS app that tracks App Store keyword rankings. It lets Cursor, Claude Code, Claude Desktop and any other MCP client read your rankings, research keywords and manage what you track.

This package is a small bridge: it speaks stdio to your assistant and forwards every call to the MCP server that Ascope runs on your own Mac. No data leaves your machine, and there is no API key.

Requirements

  • macOS 14 Sonoma or later with Ascope installed and a Pro license — $89.99 a year, no free tier, refunded in full within 14 days
  • Ascope open, with the server enabled in Settings → MCP
  • Node.js 18 or later

Install

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "ascope": {      "command": "npx",      "args": ["-y", "ascope-mcp"]    }  }}

Claude Code

bash
claude mcp add ascope -- npx -y ascope-mcp

Claude Desktop

Add this to claude_desktop_config.json:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "ascope": {      "command": "npx",      "args": ["-y", "ascope-mcp"]    }  }}

Clients that support MCP over Streamable HTTP can also point straight at http://127.0.0.1:47321/mcp without this package.

Tools

ToolWhat it does
list_appsList the apps you track, with keyword counts.
list_keywordsTracked keywords for an app with rank, change, popularity, difficulty and number of results.
keyword_historyDaily rank history of one tracked keyword.
add_keywordsStart tracking keywords and fetch their rank, popularity and difficulty.
remove_keywordsStop tracking keywords.
refresh_rankingsFetch fresh rankings for all or some of an app's keywords.
research_keywordLook up any keyword without tracking it: popularity, difficulty, top apps and your rank.
suggest_keywordsKeyword ideas from App Store search suggestions, with popularity for the strongest.
ranked_keywordsSearches where a tracked app already shows up but isn't tracked yet, from cached lookups.
app_ratingsAverage rating and rating count per country, with daily history.
search_appsSearch the App Store to find an app ID.
similar_appsApps the App Store recommends next to an app: its closest competitors.
add_appStart tracking an app by its App Store ID.

The table above is what Ascope serves. With Ascope closed the bridge still connects and offers a single ascope_setup tool that explains what to install, so your assistant tells you what is missing instead of reporting a dead server. Open Ascope and the real tools replace it without restarting the client.

Things to ask

  • "Which of my keywords dropped more than 5 places this week?"
  • "Find 10 keywords with popularity above 30 and difficulty below 50 for my app in Germany, then start tracking them."
  • "Compare where I rank for habit tracker in the US, UK and Canada."
  • "Research budget planner: who are the top apps and how hard is it to rank?"

Configuration

The bridge finds Ascope on http://127.0.0.1:47321/mcp. If you changed the port in Settings → MCP it is picked up automatically; you can also set it explicitly:

bash
ASCOPE_MCP_URL=http://127.0.0.1:50000/mcp npx -y ascope-mcp

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
