Overview

AI-generated overview

A local stdio MCP server that computes and compares cost per delivered request for fixed bids, salaried hires and flat-rate software subscriptions.

What you can do
  • Price a single lane: given a mode (fixed bid, monthly salary, or flat subscription), a dollar rate, the months the work stays alive and the expected number of requests, return total cost and cost per request.
  • Compare up to three lanes and rank them by cost per request.
  • Produce the side-by-side totals used to argue for one payment model over another.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant has to help someone weigh a one-time fixed bid, a fully loaded senior hire and a monthly flat-rate subscription on a single per-request cost figure, for example when advising clients on how to buy software work.
Requirements
Runs as a local process over stdio; the README says it is one Python file using only the standard library, started with python3 pointing at server.py, so a Python 3 runtime is needed. No authentication, environment variables or headers are declared.
Before you install
The README's worked example uses a real commercial subscription from the author's own company, so the comparison is not vendor-neutral. Results are only arithmetic on the rates and request counts you supply; the server does not fetch or verify prices.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Flat Rate Math in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

[Flat Rate Math MCP server]

flatratemath MCP server

A Model Context Protocol server that prices three ways of paying for software work on one number: total cost per delivered request. It is the stdio version of the flatratemath CLI, one Python file, standard library only, nothing to install.

Tools

cost_per_request prices a single lane. Give it a mode (bid for a one-time fixed price, salary for a fully loaded monthly hire, flat for a monthly subscription), the dollar rate, the months the work stays alive, and the number of discrete requests you expect to submit.

compare_lanes takes up to three lanes and ranks them by cost per request. An $84,000 fixed bid, an $18,290/month hire, and a $5,995/month flat subscription over 12 months and 30 requests come back as:

flat sub: $71,940 total, $2,398 per requestfixed bid: $84,000 total, $2,800 per requesthire: $219,480 total, $7,316 per request

The flat lane in that example is a real one: the unlimited development subscription at Poket Dev. I kept redrawing the same spreadsheet for clients choosing between those lanes, so the math exists as a CLI and now as a server an agent can call.

Install

Clone the repo and point your MCP client at the file:

git clone https://github.com/scrapertweeter3-prog/mcp-flatratemath

Client command: python3 /path/to/mcp-flatratemath/server.py

The wire side is JSON-RPC 2.0 over stdio, one JSON object per line (newline-delimited JSON, the MCP stdio transport). Handshakes answered: initialize, ping, tools/list, tools/call.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
