Cited ESMA MiCAR register search and change tracking, white paper linting, EU AI Act classification
Overview
Local MCP server that lets an assistant search the ESMA MiCAR register, lint MiCAR white papers and classify EU AI Act risk tiers with citations.
- What you can do
- Search the ESMA interim MiCAR register by entity name or LEI
- Summarize register totals and white paper format coverage
- Track new filings, changed entries and removals in the register
- Lint a draft MiCAR white paper against Annex I–III rules
- Classify an AI system into an EU AI Act risk tier with pinpoint citations
- When to use it
- Useful when answering MiCAR or EU AI Act questions where cited register facts or rule-based flags are preferred over model guesses, for example checking whether an entity appears in the ESMA register or reviewing a draft white paper. It does not cover other EU regulation.
- Requirements
- Runs locally over stdio as a PyPI package via uvx; Python 3.13 or newer is required. The register tools need no API key. The lint and classify tools require installing the lint and classify extras.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open EU Regulatory Grounding in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Let your AI assistant answer MiCAR and EU AI Act questions with citations instead of guesses — every finding flagged for human legal review.
Scope today: the ESMA interim MiCAR register (search, summary, change tracking), MiCAR white paper linting, and EU AI Act risk-tier classification. Other EU regulation is not covered.
Quick start
eu-reg-mcp is a Model Context Protocol server on PyPI and requires Python 3.13 or newer. With uv installed, add it to Claude Code:
The register tools need no API key. For all five tools, add the lint and classify extras; --python 3.13 makes uv use Python 3.13 even where an older one is the default:

Tools
Review-gated, not legal advice
Register results are public-register facts with extraction artifacts possible; lint and classification outputs are candidate flags pending human legal review. Nothing here is legal advice. MIT licensed.

Score
50% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
- Reached in the last 30 days25 pts
Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
