Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP server that lets an assistant search and read US Federal Register rules, notices and executive orders, with no API key.

What you can do
  • Search rules, proposed rules, notices and presidential documents by term, agency and date
  • Read one document's abstract, effective date, comment deadline, CFR references and citation
  • List the newest filings filtered by type and agency over a look-back window
  • Retrieve recent presidential executive orders
  • Look up federal agencies and their slugs to filter the other tools
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to check or track US federal regulatory activity mid-task, such as finding new rules on a topic, following executive orders, or checking comment deadlines and effective dates.
Requirements
A remote MCP endpoint reached over streamable HTTP; no API keys, signup or environment variables are declared. Network access to the provider's endpoint is needed.
Before you install
Read-only lookup over the public record; the provider states it is informational and not legal advice and recommends verifying against the official source. Queries are sent to the provider's endpoint, which relays Federal Register data.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Regulatory Intel MCP in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.selflabbs%2Fregulatory-intel-mcp/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Quick start

claude mcp add --transport http regulatory-intel https://regulatory.datakoot.com/mcp

Or point any MCP client at https://regulatory.datakoot.com/mcp.

Try it in 10 seconds — no key, no signup

Paste this into a terminal:

bash
curl -s https://regulatory.datakoot.com/mcp \ -H 'content-type: application/json' \ -H 'accept: application/json, text/event-stream' \ -d '{"jsonrpc": "2.0", "id": 1, "method": "tools/call", "params": {"name": "search_documents", "arguments": {"term": "artificial intelligence"}}}'

You get recent US Federal Register documents that mention artificial intelligence — no API key, nothing to sign up for.

Or point any MCP client at the URL and just ask your agent, in plain language:

  • "What new federal regulations mention artificial intelligence?"
  • "Show me the latest executive orders."

Data & attribution

All data comes from the Federal Register API (Office of the Federal Register / GPO), which is US-government public domain. This is an informational lookup over the official public record — not legal advice. Always verify against federalregister.gov before relying on it.

Score

50% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 daysRequired25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declaredRequired10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
