An MCP server that provides some common units conversions for cooking
Overview
A local MCP server that lets an assistant convert cooking measurements for volume, weight and temperature between common units.
- What you can do
- Convert volume measurements between ml, l, cup, tbsp and tsp, such as 240 ml to 1 cup. Convert weight measurements between g, kg, oz and lb, such as 454 g to 1 lb. Convert temperatures between Celsius and Fahrenheit, such as 180°C to 356°F.
- When to use it
- Useful when following or adapting recipes that mix metric and imperial units, or when an assistant needs quick, consistent cooking measurement conversions without doing the arithmetic itself.
- Requirements
- Runs as a local Python process installed from the PyPI package mcp-units, typically launched with uvx or uv pip. No accounts, API keys or environment variables are declared. Desktop use only; it is not a web-executable server.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Mcp Units in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
