Overview

AI-generated overview

Apify-hosted Google Trends server that returns interest over time, related queries, regional interest and Trending Now data as JSON for any keyword list.

What you can do
  • Fetch interest over time for a list of keywords, with average, latest, peak and percent change plus peak hour for short ranges.
  • Get top and rising (breakout) related queries per keyword.
  • Get interest by region for each keyword.
  • Get Trending Now lists per country, with search volume, growth, topics and news links over 4, 24, 48 or 168 hours.
  • Choose search type (Web, YouTube, News, Images, Shopping), country and time range; results can be downloaded as JSON, CSV or Excel.
When to use it
Useful for keyword research and SEO work, spotting rising products or topics early, and building daily trending feeds for content teams, when an assistant needs current Google Trends numbers rather than guesses.
Requirements
Remote MCP endpoint at mcp.apify.com with the tool selector for this actor; OAuth sign-in to an Apify account on first use. Runs in Apify's cloud, so no local runtime or proxy setup. Usage is billed to the Apify account.
Before you install
Paid usage: $1 per 1,000 results (one keyword or one trend each), drawn from Apify plan credit, so large keyword lists or full Trending Now lists cost more. Trending Now defaults to 25 trends per country unless changed. Results are scraped from Google Trends and may be incomplete or duplicated across time windows.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Google Trends: Interest Over Time, Rising Queries, Trending Now in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Connect the required credentials. They are stored privately and never shown on public pages.
  3. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.serenido%2Fgoogle-trends/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Other MCP clients

Add this to your client's mcpServers config. The client completes OAuth sign-in on first connect.

README

Google Trends Scraper API

Get Google Trends data for any list of keywords: interest over time, rising and top related queries, interest by region and Trending Now. Auto-retry, no 429 errors.

Runs in the cloud on Apify. No servers, no proxy setup, no code to maintain. Open it on Apify

Price: $1 per 1,000 results (one result = one keyword, or one Trending Now trend). Trending Now saves 25 trends per country unless you change trendingNowMaxPerCountry (0 = the whole list). No monthly fee. Apify's free plan gives $5 of usage every month, no credit card needed. Current price.

What you get

  • Interest over time with a ready summary (average, latest, peak, change in %), plus the exact peak hour for short time ranges
  • Rising (breakout) and top related queries
  • Interest by region
  • Trending Now for any country: the full list like trends.google.com/trending, in the same order, with search volume, growth, trend breakdown, topics and news links (past 4 hours, 24 hours, 48 hours or 7 days)
  • Web, YouTube, News, Images and Shopping search, any country and time range

Quick start: Python

bash
pip install -U apify-client
python
from apify_client import ApifyClient
client = ApifyClient("YOUR_APIFY_TOKEN")
run = client.actor("serenido/google-trends-reliable").call(run_input={ "searchTerms": [ "gym wear", "vw golf" ], "geo": "US", "timeRange": "past_12_months"})
for item in client.dataset(run.default_dataset_id).iterate_items():    print(item)

Quick start: JavaScript (Node.js)

bash
npm install apify-client
javascript
import { ApifyClient } from "apify-client";
const client = new ApifyClient({ token: process.env.APIFY_TOKEN });
const run = await client.actor("serenido/google-trends-reliable").call({    "searchTerms": [        "gym wear",        "vw golf"    ],    "geo": "US",    "timeRange": "past_12_months"});
const { items } = await client.dataset(run.defaultDatasetId).listItems();console.log(items);

Quick start: one HTTP call

Runs the tool and returns the rows in one request. Good for runs under 5 minutes; for bigger runs use the Python or JavaScript example.

bash
curl -X POST "https://api.apify.com/v2/acts/serenido~google-trends-reliable/run-sync-get-dataset-items?token=$APIFY_TOKEN" \  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \  -d '{"searchTerms": ["gym wear", "vw golf"], "geo": "US", "timeRange": "past_12_months"}'

Get your token in Apify Console > Settings > API & Integrations.

Use it from AI apps (MCP)

Any app that supports remote MCP servers (Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, VS Code and others) can run this tool for you. Add this server URL: https://mcp.apify.com?tools=serenido/google-trends-reliable. Your Apify account connects on first use. Example config for Cursor:

json
{  "mcpServers": {    "apify": {      "url": "https://mcp.apify.com?tools=serenido/google-trends-reliable"    }  }}

Input example

json
{  "searchTerms": [    "gym wear",    "vw golf"  ],  "geo": "US",  "timeRange": "past_12_months"}

Add "trendingNowGeos": ["US", "GB"] to also get the trending searches of those countries. "trendingNowHours" picks the time window ("4", "24", "48" or "168") and "trendingNowMaxPerCountry" how many trends to save (default 25, 0 = all). All options are listed on the input page.

Output example (one row)

json
{  "type": "keyword",  "keyword": "gym wear",  "geo": "US",  "averageInterest": 68.8,  "latestInterest": 57,  "peakInterest": 100,  "peakDate": "2026-04-12",  "trendChangePct": 16,  "trendDirection": "rising",  "topRegions": "Wyoming (100), Kansas (52), Hawaii (43), California (37) ...",  "topQueries": "best gym wear, what to wear to the gym, gym wear women ...",  "risingQueries": "cheap womens gym wear (+250%), women's gym wear (+200%), cheap gym wear (+70%) ..."}

Trending Now example (one row)

Rows come in the same order as the Trending Now page ("By relevance").

json
{  "type": "trendingNow",  "geo": "US",  "timeWindowHours": 24,  "rank": 3,  "keyword": "pistons vs knicks",  "searchVolume": 100000,  "approxTraffic": "100K+",  "volumeGrowthPct": 1000,  "startedAt": "2026-10-27T22:20:00Z",  "endedAt": null,  "isActive": true,  "relatedSearches": "knicks vs pistons, pistons, detroit pistons, pistons vs knicks where to watch ...",  "topics": "Sports",  "newsHeadlines": "Pistons vs. Knicks preview: 3-0 Pistons take on 0-3 Knicks | ..."}

A keyword can show up twice when it trended twice in the time window, like on the page. Each row has its own startedAt.

Download as JSON, CSV or Excel, or connect to Make, Zapier or n8n.
