Overview

AI-generated overview

A local MCP server that lets an assistant explore and query a Microsoft SQL Server database read-only, with catalogue search, schema inspection and bounded…

What you can do
  • Search the database catalogue to find objects such as tables and views
  • Inspect schema details before writing a query
  • Run bounded read-only queries against the configured database
  • Connect using a read-only login, with configurable timeouts, encryption and certificate trust
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to look up data or understand the structure of a Microsoft SQL Server database without write access, for example during analysis, reporting questions or onboarding to an unfamiliar schema.
Requirements
Runs as a local process via the npm package @sezzlee/mssql-mcp over stdio, so Node.js is needed. Requires a reachable SQL Server host, database name and a read-only login, supplied through the environment variables SEZZLEE_MSSQL_SERVER, SEZZLEE_MSSQL_DATABASE, SEZZLEE_MSSQL_USER and SEZZLEE_MSSQL_PASSWORD; port, encryption, certificate trust and timeouts are optional settings. Desktop only.
Before you install
The server needs a database password in SEZZLEE_MSSQL_PASSWORD, so store it in the client configuration rather than sharing it. It is intended for a read-only principal; make sure the login really has read-only rights, since the server's own limits are not a substitute for database permissions. Setting SEZZLEE_MSSQL_TRUST_SERVER_CERTIFICATE to accept an unverified certificate weakens connection security. Query results are sent to the AI assistant and its model provider.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Sezzlee SQL Server in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Score

25% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.

  • Tools listed15 pts

Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
