Overview

AI-generated overview

Read-only GitHub trending data: lets an assistant list top repos by stars gained today, this week or this month, and look up or search tracked repos.

What you can do
  • List trending repos by stars gained today, this week, this month or by total stars, with optional language or topic filters
  • Look up one tracked repo's stars, forks, language, license, topics, recent star counts, gains and ranks
  • Search tracked repos by words in name, description, topics or language, ordered by relevance then stars
  • List the languages and GitHub topics accepted as filters, with tracked repo counts
  • Explain how stars gained are counted, which repos are tracked and what is left out
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to surface fast-rising GitHub projects, compare a repo's recent momentum, or find repos in a given language or topic without browsing GitHub yourself.
Requirements
Remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no authentication, environment variables or headers declared. Network access to the endpoint is needed.
Before you install
Read-only rankings from daily snapshots, not live GitHub data; results carry a data_date and may lag. The service is not affiliated with GitHub, and coverage is limited to the repos it tracks.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open RepoTrending in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.sinhgiang%2Frepotrending/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows
