Overview

AI-generated overview

Remote MCP server that simulates credit card value on a household's yearly spending and recommends which cards to hold, keep or cancel.

What you can do
  • List the 19 spending categories the model scores against, to map a person's spending onto category ids
  • Simulate a year of spending by category to get the three best cards and the best two-card combination, net of annual fees
  • Check cards already held and get a verdict on whether each still earns back its annual fee, plus what to switch to
  • Compare two named cards head to head on the person's own spending and see the yearly difference
When to use it
Useful when someone asks which credit card or card pair to get, whether to keep or cancel a card they already carry, or how two specific cards compare on their own spending pattern.
Requirements
A remote endpoint at ifthecardfits.com over streamable HTTP; no authentication, environment variables or headers are declared, and no local package is needed.
Before you install
Spending figures by category are sent to a third-party service for simulation. Recommendations are model estimates based on card terms, not financial advice; verify fees and terms before acting.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open If The Card Fits in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.

Use with an agent

Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.

Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.sjgiewont%2Fif-the-card-fits/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.

Read the install guide the agent follows

Find the best credit cards for a person's spending

Given a year of spending by category, returns the three best credit cards and the best two-card combination, with what each is worth after its annual fee over the chosen horizon. Figures come from a model checked to the cent against an independent reference calculator, against card terms a person verified against the issuer's own page — the response says which catalog version and when each card was last checked. Always show the person the continueUrl: it reopens their own numbers on the site with the full breakdown, the rest of the ranking and offer alerts. Also show the disclosure string.

keep_or_cancel

Keep, downgrade or cancel a card

For cards the person already carries, says whether each one still earns its annual fee back on their spending, and what to move to if not. Pass the cards as `held`. Returns a verdict and a rounded yearly margin.

compare_two

Compare two cards for this person

Two named cards head to head on the person's own spending: which one pays more, and by how much a year. Use this when they are choosing between two specific cards. For 'what should I get', use simulate_cards instead.
