Pay-per-call x402 agent tools (USDC): web reader, token/wallet/email/site checks, screenshots, PDFs.

Overview

AI-generated overview

Local MCP server offering pay-per-call web and risk-check tools, each paid in USDC on Solana from the user's own wallet.

What you can do
Read web pages as clean markdown with metadata, and extract tables, JSON-LD, contacts, links or CSS-selector fields from a page, plus screenshots and A4 PDFs of pages. Run risk checks on Solana tokens, wallets (including OFAC matching), email addresses, mail domains and websites for trust, phishing or lookalike signals. Show session spend, remaining budget and wallet address for free. Preview any paid call's price without paying via a dry-run option.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs web reading, structured extraction or quick risk screening of tokens, wallets, emails, domains or sites, and you are willing to pay small per-call USDC fees instead of using accounts or API keys.
Requirements
Runs locally via npx (Node.js). Paid calls need SOLANA_PRIVATE_KEY, the keypair of a wallet holding a little USDC on Solana mainnet; no SOL is needed. Optional settings: MAX_SPEND_USDC (default 0.25), SOFTBOT_DRY_RUN, SOFTBOT_NO_TRIAL and SOLANA_RPC_URL. Network access to the x402 endpoints is required.
Before you install
The server holds SOLANA_PRIVATE_KEY and signs USDC transfers from that wallet, so use a dedicated low-balance wallet. Calls spend real money; the per-session cap defaults to 0.25 USDC and resets when the process restarts. The first three calls per tool per wallet are free, after which calls are paid. Page content and check inputs go to third-party endpoints.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open Softbot Studio agent tools in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

README

softbot-mcp

MCP server for Softbot Studio pay-per-call agent tools. Each call is paid with USDC on Solana mainnet through x402, straight from your own wallet. There are no accounts or API keys, and failed calls are free.

Every paid tool accepts dry_run: true, which returns the price and endpoint without paying.

Free trial

The first 3 calls of each tool are free per wallet. The server signs the x402 sign-in-with-x challenge with your key automatically (a signature only, no funds move), then pays normally once the trial is used up. Results show free_trial and trial_remaining. Set SOFTBOT_NO_TRIAL=1 to always pay.

Configuration (env vars)

  • SOLANA_PRIVATE_KEY (required for paid calls) is the keypair of a wallet holding a little USDC (no SOL needed, since the facilitator pays network fees). It takes base58, or the JSON byte array from solana-keygen. Use a dedicated low-balance wallet.
  • MAX_SPEND_USDC is the per-session budget. It defaults to 0.25, and calls that would exceed it are refused.
  • SOFTBOT_DRY_RUN=1 puts every tool in price-only mode.
  • SOLANA_RPC_URL is optional and defaults to the public mainnet RPC.

Safety

  • The key is used only locally to sign x402 USDC transfers, and it is never logged or sent anywhere.
  • The client refuses to pay if a server asks for more than the advertised price, or for an asset other than USDC.
  • The budget resets when the server process restarts.

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
