Overview

AI-generated overview

Read-only MCP server for medical device regulatory lookups: NMPA UDI records, FDA 510(k), PMA and product classification, plus a keyword search over a…

What you can do
  • Look up NMPA UDI records by main DI, product name or registration number
  • Query FDA 510(k) clearances by K-number, company or product
  • Query FDA PMA approvals by PMA number, company or product
  • Look up FDA product classification by product code or name
  • Keyword-search a 20-hub regulatory knowledge base covering CN, US, EU and JP
When to use it
Useful when you need to check device registration, clearance or classification status while drafting regulatory documents, comparing markets, or answering questions about a specific device or company. All tools are read-only, so it suits research and reference work rather than data entry.
Requirements
Runs locally over stdio; install the medxpert-reg-hub package from PyPI and start the medxpert-mcp command. The wheel ships without the full dataset, so you must supply your own SQLite database via MEDXPERT_DB and a references directory via MEDXPERT_REFS, for example by cloning the project's GitHub repository. Desktop only; no authentication declared.
Before you install
The package alone is not usable: without MEDXPERT_DB and MEDXPERT_REFS pointing at real data, lookups have nothing to query. The full dataset is large (hundreds of millions of rows), so plan for storage and local setup. Results reflect whatever data you supply, so verify regulatory decisions against official sources.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open MedXpert Regulatory Hub in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.

Other MCP clients

Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Data (MEDXPERT_DB / MEDXPERT_REFS)

The PyPI wheel is metadata-light by design (the full dataset is ~600M+ rows across SQLite). Point the server at your data:

bash
export MEDXPERT_DB=/path/to/medxpert_device.sqliteexport MEDXPERT_REFS=/path/to/skills/referencesmedxpert-mcp

The reference data bundle is published in the GitHub repo stevenzhao07/medxpert-reg-hub (docs/ and skills/references/), so you can clone it and set the env vars, or use your own RA knowledge base.

Score

50% of the applicable checks met

How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.

  • Reached in the last 30 days25 pts

Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.

  • Auth declared10 pts

Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
