Docforge is a remote MCP server that lets an assistant convert PDFs to markdown, run OCR, extract tables and invoices, and render markdown into PDFs.
What you can do
Convert text-based PDFs into clean markdown, with headings, lists and paragraphs preserved, from a URL or base64 input. Run OCR on images in over 100 languages and get text back with a confidence score. Detect and rebuild tables from PDFs as structured rows plus markdown and CSV. Extract invoice or receipt fields such as vendor, dates, totals and line items as JSON. Render markdown or simple HTML into a printable A4 PDF and return it as base64 with a page count.
When to use it
Useful when an assistant needs to turn PDFs into editable text, pull tables or invoice data out of documents, read text from scanned images, or produce a printable PDF from markdown.
Requirements
A remote streamable HTTP endpoint; no local package, environment variables or headers are declared. Inputs are supplied as file URLs or base64 content, so the assistant needs network access to reach the endpoint.
Before you install
The registry description calls these paid document tools and mentions x402, so calls may involve payment; confirm pricing before use. Documents and images are sent to a third-party remote service, so avoid confidential files unless that is acceptable.
Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Web executable via Streamable HTTP. Remote servers run from the web runtime once configured in a workspace.
Use with an agent
Paste this prompt into Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or another agent — or into SourceWeft chat. The agent reads this server's install guide, shows you its publisher, endpoint and sign-in, and adds it to your client once you agree. Keys never go into a command.
Read https://sourceweft.com/mcp/io.github.steviepinero%2Fdocforge/install.md and connect the MCP server it describes to my client. Before changing any config, show me its publisher, endpoint and sign-in method and wait for my OK. Never put an API key in a command or in a file I would commit; ask me where it should come from.
Extract the text of a PDF and convert it to clean markdown. Detects headings by font size and preserves lists and paragraphs. Input: a text-based PDF via file_url or file_base64. For scanned PDFs use ocr_image on page images instead.

ocr_image
OCR Image to Text
Run optical character recognition on an image (png, jpg, webp, bmp) and return the recognized text with a confidence score. Supports 100+ languages via the language parameter (ISO 639-2 codes like 'eng', 'deu', 'fra', 'spa').
Parametersfile_urllanguagefile_base64
extract_tables
Extract Tables from PDF
Detect and reconstruct tables from a text-based PDF. Returns each table as structured rows plus ready-to-use markdown and CSV renderings. Works best on PDFs with clear columnar layout (invoices, reports, statements).
Parametersfile_urlfile_base64
render_pdf
Render Markdown/HTML to PDF
Render markdown (or simple HTML) into a clean, printable A4 PDF. Supports headings, paragraphs, bullet and numbered lists, blockquotes, code blocks, horizontal rules, and inline bold/italic/code. Returns the PDF as base64 plus page count.
Parameterstitleformatcontentrequired
parse_invoice
Parse Invoice/Receipt
Extract structured data from an invoice or receipt: vendor, invoice number, dates, currency, subtotal, tax, total, and line items. Accepts a text-based PDF, or an image when is_image is true (OCR is applied first). Returns JSON.
