MCP server for Yandex Search API (v2, Cloud)
Overview
Local MCP server that lets an assistant run web searches through the Yandex Search API v2 and get ranked, structured results.
- What you can do
- Search the web with a query, optional result count (1-100), region ID, page number and safe-search mode.
- Read structured results: position, URL, domain, title, headline, passages, snippet, size, language and cached URL.
- Automatic index selection: Cyrillic queries use the Russian index, Latin-only queries the international one.
- Retries automatically with exponential backoff on rate-limit and server errors.
- When to use it
- Useful when an assistant needs web search results from Yandex, especially for Russian-language or region-specific queries, and you already have a Yandex Cloud account.
- Requirements
- Runs as a local Node.js process (package @stufently/yandex-search-mcp; the README says to clone the repo and run it from source with bun install). Needs a Yandex Cloud API key in YANDEX_SEARCH_API_KEY and a folder ID in YANDEX_FOLDER_ID; the service account needs the search-api.webSearch.user role. Network access to the Yandex Cloud search endpoint.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Yandex Search MCP in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.
