Search the Agent Almanac catalog of 9,000+ MCP servers from inside any MCP-aware agent.
The publisher's own server: Almanac
Overview
A local MCP server that lets an assistant search the Agent Almanac catalog of 9,000+ MCP servers and look up install details for each one.
- What you can do
- Search the catalog by capability, name or description, optionally filtered by transport and result limit, using full-text search. Retrieve full details for a single server by slug, including install command, tool list, repository and version. List the most recently updated servers in the catalog, optionally filtered by transport.
- When to use it
- Useful when you want an assistant to help you find, compare or install MCP servers without leaving the chat, for example locating a server for a specific task or checking what has recently changed in the ecosystem.
- Requirements
- Runs locally over stdio, typically launched with npx, so Node.js is needed. No account, authentication or API key. Network access to the Agent Almanac API is required; the base URL can be overridden with the AGENTALMANAC_API_BASE environment variable.
Installation
In SourceWeft
- Open Agent Almanac MCP in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
- Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.
Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
Other MCP clients
Follow the launch instructions in the repository.

Score
50% of the applicable checks met
How complete this listing is, computed from the registry entry, the endpoint and public sources. Not a rating of the server and not a statement that it is safe or working today: reachability is a dated check, and no installs or reviews go into the score.
- Reached in the last 30 days25 pts
Keep the endpoint answering the MCP handshake; SourceWeft probes it every 30 days.
- Auth declared10 pts
Declare the credential headers in the registry entry, or keep the endpoint answering the probe so its auth can be classified.
- Tools listed15 pts
Answer tools/list without a credential, or ship a package that starts in a sandbox without one.
