Overview

AI-generated overview

A remote MCP server that verifies AI-written academic references against Crossref, PubMed and OpenAlex and formats citations.

What it does
This server gives an assistant tools for research reference work. It checks references produced by AI against Crossref, PubMed and OpenAlex, and it formats citations. It also supports PRISMA, the reporting standard used in systematic reviews.
When to use it
Worth adding when an assistant drafts academic text and the references need checking against bibliographic databases before use. Useful for literature reviews and systematic review workflows where citation accuracy and PRISMA-style reporting matter.
Requirements
It is a remote streamable HTTP endpoint at mcp.pho.chat, so no local runtime or package install is needed. The manifest declares no authentication, environment variables or headers. Network access to the endpoint and to the underlying bibliographic services is required.
Before you install
The manifest declares no credentials, but reference lookups send the citation text you submit to the remote endpoint and on to Crossref, PubMed and OpenAlex. Treat verification results as a check, not a guarantee of correctness, and confirm important citations yourself.
