Local MCP server for Sber's GigaChat API, letting an assistant chat, embed text, generate images, count tokens, check balance and upload files.

Generate text in a dialogue with GigaChat and list available models and assistants via the GigaChat API, plus count tokens for texts and check remaining token or quota balance. Produce text embeddings for one or more strings. Generate images from a prompt. Upload files for multimodal processing.
When to use it
Useful when you want an assistant to call GigaChat models from a desktop client such as Claude Desktop, Claude Code, VS Code or Cursor, for Russian-language chat, embeddings, image generation or token accounting.
Requirements
Runs locally over stdio via the npm package @theyahia/gigachat-mcp, so Node.js and npx are needed. Requires the GIGACHAT_AUTH_KEY environment variable, a Base64-encoded client_id:client_secret obtained from the Sber developer portal; OAuth tokens are refreshed automatically. Network access to the GigaChat API is required.
Before you install
You must supply a GigaChat credential in GIGACHAT_AUTH_KEY; keep it out of shared configs. Prompts, texts and uploaded files are sent to Sber's GigaChat service, and image generation and chat consume the account's token quota, which get_balance reports. The repository is archived and development has moved to another monorepo, though the npm package is said to be unchanged.

Installation

In SourceWeft

  1. Open gigachat-mcp in the dashboard and add it to a workspace.
  2. Enable the server for the chats that should use its tools.

Desktop only via STDIO. STDIO servers start a local process, so they need the SourceWeft desktop host.
